The ambience of this coastal town has lured the regional and provincial offices of the National Telecommunication Commission (NTC) to hold here a one-day orientation seminar on Radio Land Mobile (RLM) operations and other telecommunication basics on September 6 at the town's gymnasium.

The event coincided the monthly meeting of the Liga ng mga Barangay here.
Mayor Exuperio Lloren, for his part, expressed his strong support to the activity as it came in consonance with his preference for modern telecommunications technology that would benefit the local officials, law enforcers at the grassroots and its subsidiaries.

Andrew G. Tadena, president of the Liga ng mga Barangay who sits as member of the Sangguniang Bayan, welcomed the visitors and participants.

All the 33 barangay captains in Jagna showed up at the occasion.

In his lecture, Engr. Leopoldo Yeban of the NTC Region VII explained that based on Republic Act (RA) 3846, NTC is mandated to launch a drive to enhance stakeholders of NTC radio station licenses and radio operators certificates and other concerns on telecommunications.

Engr. Yeban and Bohol NTC Chief Engr. Dennis Rocamora gave emphasis on the utilization, safety and constraints of some telecommunication implements.

Engr. Rocamora also warned the participants on the rampant sale of many telecommunication devices in the markets and department stores, some of which are highly surreptitious products and the best antidote to it is to look for the NTC logo usually at the back of the gadget.

During the open forum towards the end of the seminar, participants inquired about fees imposed on operating selected telecommunication device.

Engr. Yeban explained that it is advantageous to attend informative activities of the NTC to know that things like the single side-band is not an ordinary gadget and that if it would be stolen and reported to the NTC, their office has a system of blocking unscrupulous persons from using it.
