For a more stable management, the Marine Fishery and Aquatic Resource Management Council (MFARMC) called the nine coastal barangay captains here for a reorganizational meeting on March 17 to discuss the primary concern on conservation of marine and aquatic products that benefit the fisherfolk and the other organisms that find niche in them.
Gerry Araneta, the Municipal Planning and Development Council (MPDC) officer explained to the coastal barangay captains, with Marine Protective Areas (MPAs) in their respective jurisdictions, to reaffirm their commitments for the conservation and protection of marine life that the Local Government Unit (LGU) headed by Mayor Exuperio Lloren strongly supports.
In this town, 14 out of 33 barangays stretch along the coastal areas.
Earlier, the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) passed an ordinance adopting the MPA that would brace its implementation to manifest the local administration's total cooperation for the program.
