4 Jagna pupils shine at CVIRAA’10 meet

JAGNA—Of the thousands of atheletes seeing action in the recent Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) meet on February 8-14 in Danao City, this town has a share of successful competitors. Some intermediate pupils of Jagna Central Elementary School (JCES) brought home some gold, silver and bronze medals in their respective group and individual events participated.
Janus Eduard Tavera a 12-year old 6th grade pupil was first in the 100 meter dash and also in the 200-meter run with a speed of 13.08 seconds in the sprint. The lanky and snappy dash is also the 2nd runner in the 4 X 100-meter relay of which the Bohol team was up.
Joseph Neil Baygan another scholar from JCES got a silver medal in the 200-meter contest. Another athelete, Mark Joseph Orique a taller JCES regional contestant was Bohol's elementary boys division mainstay in volleyball that catapulted the team to become the runner up in the ballgame in the weeklong sports fest.
The lone JCES girl CVIRAA competitor was Vanissa Galolo of barangay Pangdan who grabbed the bronze medal in the 100-meter low hurdle. Ponciano Galve, a teacher of Jagna district who was the dependable coach of Bohol's elementary boys athletic team that landed second best in the total tabulation was instrumental in the excellent performance of the JCES boys and girls performance in the Danao City encounter.
