Just food for thought..
In 2007, my cousins who live in TOm's River, NJ visited us here in Houston.
Apparently, where they are, BSN RNs start at 28/hr night shift. In Houston, around $25/hr that's a $3 difference.
According to them, my 2 story, 2,000 sqft 3br2.5ba brick home is around $400k in NJ. The Woodlands is one of the more upscale areas in Houston and we got it for $150k.
heheh ! We never had a housing bubble and Texas has the Texas Medical Center. Oh, easy to visit Pinas too...From Houston-Bush to Narita to Manila. or go thru Houston-Hobby to LA then MNL. Houston is one of the few cities that is still hiring. there's lay-offs but lots of hiring too. Companies like Shell, Chevron, TOtal, Schlumberger are still recruiting heavily at U of H.
Food craving...I'm not even gonna start. its a yum party with more than 5 filipino buffets. :-) it might be a good financial move.
downside, winter is far too short. My furry boots gets used twice a year TOPS :-(
He he he ! Sobra ra ka congested ang New Jersey kai gamay ra ang lugar, pero daghan na kaajo ang tawo didto. Pero, lami ang pay didto. I grew up in Cherry Hill , New Jersey , guwapo ang location kai very typically suburban, pero too congested lagi.
If you are a veteran nurse, you can easily make $45 - $50 an hour as an RN in New Jersey. The taxes in New Jersey is high, tho, and the cost of living is a lot.
Tinuod ka, Alice, about the housing situation in New Jersey. A 4 bedroom house with 2.5 bathrooms in NJ will cost anywhere between $300,000 to $400,000. Mahal ra kaajo.
A 5-6 bedroom mansion in Katy, Texas costs $250,000 , which is pretty good price. The same mansion in New Jersey would be worth $1 Million +.
