Welcome ford and enjoy your stay with us! We are happy to know that you are interested about our own Bohol  and the other nearby islands.

I feel sorry to disappoint you in regards to your verification about Siquijor and Dumaguete...I have no idea for never been there yet.  If you are interested, you can go to google search (Siquijor and Dumaguete wikipedia). I think, Scott one of our active Hero member here can help you.

Why not learning better Bohol and stay first with us before taking some island -hopping?  :D

I have been looking at some rentals online and some other sites with expats, and they say that Siquijor and Dumaguete are both safe and very nice.
I am mostly concerned about safety and the infrastructure like cable connection, electric that stuff.

Thank you Hi-5,
I have been to Bohol several times.
And while Bohol can be quite beautiful, there are things that I would like to avoid.

Very understandable Ford...

Yeah you should try going Siquijor and Dumaguete so you would see...

I have  relatives outside Dumaguete, along the beaches and it is a very peaceful place thay have...

Have you been to Mindanao too?

I want to find out about living there.
I would like to visit Camiguin. How is the utilities?

I understand that Dumaguete is supposed to be beautifl and the internet and utilies are supposed to be better.
I don't know, only what I hear.

A friend of mine is from CDO, her parents still live there. But it is too big for me, and the city is not near any nice beaches.

First of, hi Ford, welcome!
I had a classmate in college Ms.Leilani Jo, who's from Dumaguete. But I've never been there nor know about the province as a whole.
So sorry I can't help you pal!

Thank you for replying anyway.

It's funny how parts of the Philippines are so unknown. I don't mean Dumaguete; but, Negros is a place that no one talks about much. Supposed to be a lot of Natural parks and preserves there.
I think I read where there still might be some of the native deer still alive there, I may be wrong.

Its very simple, the Philippines is a vast country, a nation of over 7,100 islands, and only 30% of the islands are actually over the size of 1 square mile, most of the islands in the Philippine Archipelago are so numerous that many don't even have names.

Negros, is actually very well known, there is a large Negrosianos group in New York city, in Queens region, a considerable amount in central new jersey (several thousands) and numerous in California as well. If you're looking for quiet area and nice beaches, then the island of Siqijor or parts of southern Leyte would suit you.

Why dont you like Bohol?
