IÂ´m Tessie Bertumen Wilms, a Guindulmanon residing in Germany (57). I would like to share to you the existence of our group, 2 years old and successfully increasing in numbers. We have done 11 projects in different towns of this province as initiated by the members. Anyone interested keep in touch and will tell more about our activities.

Bol-anon sa Germany attended a conference on Microfinancing as a solution to alleviate poverty sponsored by the Phil government with different representatives of Phil sector and German business enterpreneurs. The occassion was held in Muelhein an der Ruehr Wolfsburg Academy, Biztum Essen.

Evonik STEAG in Villanueva, Cagayan de Oro City Mindanao has a coal-fired power plant that coveres 55 hectares of land and offers 210 kw power supply. This is in operation since 2 years.

According to Claus Peter Bell, Executive vice-president of Evonik/STEAG GmbH, they were able to built new housing units for more than 35 families who first squatted in the are of the company. Since the families are growing they also built kindergarten, elementary schools and some income earning schemes for women like card making out of local materials like grass and banana fibers. They also assigned foresters to work on a 1,200 hectare land as their contribution to green the environment. Take note that this huge energy company did not relate to the listeners how the waste of this power plant will be disposed including ashes and the rest. Time was running out during his talk and I was not able to open this question. Sayang. Hope some Bol-anons living in Villanueva or Tagoloan Cagayan de Oro City be aware and should work with the local Greenpeace representatives since the negative effect takes a long time and could be irreversible.

I was thinking of how poor families can avail of health insurance. Simbako adunay ma-ospital ang mga tambal mahal jamo, serbisyo sa mga medical staff labaw na!
How to put emphasis on food sufficiency? Ang mga bag-ong tubo mahadlok mahogaw ang kuko, o malagom ang panit sa init sa adlaw. Daghan kaajo ang nag-dagan sa akong ulo. May I propose DIY solar cooker? There are templates on how to make it. It is used in Africa and Bangladesh, if we use local materials and maybe we sell the raw stuff, people will not cut trees discriminately which contributes to global warming. We can make some brain storming, Lay.

Sa pagkatinood Tess I donated one computer set sa Bayong Elementary school thru my older brother Efren who was then the head teacher. He spent one month vacation just to learn hands on programs and operations. Ako ray nag tudlo niya. Bayong now is faring well in computer literacy compared to other Barangays. Another set was spared for my pamangkins in Bulawan. My youngest son is a computer addict. He knows how to assemble parts and install programs (kaso lang mga pirated kay mahal man ang license). Bali dalawa ang computer ko sa ngayon. One is used by my son and the other (laptop) sa akin.

Nagsobo gajud ko kay kining si Inday Teody gasabot mi nga iyang 13 year daughter akong iparis sa akong 15 year old son. She is a nice and witty Bol-anon. I just get a call that her husband would like to have her burial with in the family this coming 22 December.

Ces Paez who hails from Cebu said that there are lots of cooperatives in Bohol and he mentioned that there is also a burial plan which is financially easy for Bolanons, the coffin is as low as 1,500. I was so eager to know more because I want a kind of health insurance for everyone. Sigi pako ug research kay morag adunay pa-agi. Basin makakita kita ug kandidato nga maka-masa. Hinaut pa kay dool na pud ang eleksyon.

Our small organization responded, T-shirts and rices were distributed . Warm meal was served after the mass. Our sister in faith Ms Ellen Poquita Racela distributed some leaflets of prayers and rosaries also.

Anybody out there in Germany who have the means and compassion:

The Health Education and Assistance for Loonanons (Heal) is a SEC-registered nonprofit organization composed mostly of young professionals including a doctor and a few nurses. It activities: lectures to mothers on proper nutrition, medical/dental missions, ukay-ukay sale to buy toilet bowls for indigents (6 pa lang ang ilang mapalit owing to lack of funds), gasoline allowance for indigents wanting to use the ambumance of the munisipyo, etc. Future project: diagnostics laboratory para sa mga dili maka afford. It owns a lot and building (almost finished pending the availability of funds). Services are free or socialized (sa proposed diagnostics lab). All services voluntary. For your support and financial assistance, please contact the Office of the Mayor of Loon (038-5059131). Look for Lloyd or Reigh. Thank you very much.

Pastilan ma-ilhan jud nga kaming mga gurang nga Bol-anon puro ignoy. It is diffucult for them ( Douglas Nierras Powerdance) to present themselves in the public without any backing of a registered organization like us (non-profit) since the German authorities are strict, mapangita-an sila ug working visa.

The Bol-anon sa Germany held their annual meeting last 13 June,2009. I opened a topic about assisting a group in Loon as suggested by Koddi Prudente. There was no concrete answer since I have to encourage other members to approve my proposal. There were only 14 members present (out of 75), others are residing in other countries like Denmark, Switzerland, and the USA.

We are preparing a despedida party to one of our pioneer member Ms Annie Ladra Acapulco.
This will be held in Marl-sinsen NRW, Germany on May 29 ( Saturday) 15:00 , a mass will be celebrated by Rev Fr Cesar O. Tablon MSP and small salo-salo will follow at the convent´s hall Liebfrauen Kirche, Marl. She will be going back to our country for good after more than 30 years of service in Germany, as a hospital staff.
She is a great lady and we will surely miss her.

Karong sonod namo nga party kami ra ang magdala ug pagka-on, busa mag andam pod mi para sa mga aleman nga bisita, apan aduna magdala ug pag-kaon para sa mga bol-anon sama sa buwad, dinogoan, adobong nokos, adunay mopalit ug lab-as nga isda kilawon, kining si Miraver maoy hanas.

We are happy that we had had 22 projects so far, we still have money almost 2,000 euro and we are telling members to take a look in their own town or barrio to invest 500 Euro as a project (30,000 pesos). Please visit our website it is new and we are still working on this ;
