The United States will do everything it can "to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon and creating an arms race, a nuclear arms race, in a volatile region," President Barack Obama told CNN in an interview Sunday.
Head of the Administration said it intends to seek settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue through diplomatic means, but it did not rule out any options.
Commenting on Israel's intention to strike at the Iranian nuclear facilities, Obama suggested that a decision on this matter is still pending.
However, he said the Israelis have every reason to worry.
"I think they, like us, believe that Iran has to stand down on its nuclear weapons program," said the American leader.
"Until they do, I think Israel righly is going to be very concerned, and we are as well."
He stressed the United States and Israel will act together on this issue.
Earlier, American media leaked information quoting the Pentagon chief Leon Panetta saying that Israeli strike on the Iranian nuclear facilities was very likely to take place "in April, May or June." - by PNA
