Sometimes, there are things and words that people say that hurt us, sometimes, the pain is unbearable to bear, and some of us are unable to forgive, or hold on to that deep hurt. It profits you nothing to hold on to the grudge, nor the pain, nor the pain of such actions. Let it go. Yes, let it go. Go now, go to the Tabernacle, and kneel before the Eucharist and ask for forgiveness and ask for solemn strength to move on. Give it all to Jesus.

St. Jane Frances de Chantal
(1562-1641)



Jane Frances was wife, mother, nun and founder of a religious community. Her mother died when Jane was 18 months old, and her father, head of parliament at Dijon, France, became the main influence on her education. She developed into a woman of beauty and refinement, lively and cheerful in temperament. At 21 she married Baron de Chantal, by whom she had six children, three of whom died in infancy. At her castle she restored the custom of daily Mass, and was seriously engaged in various charitable works.

Jane's husband was killed after seven years of marriage, and she sank into deep dejection for four months at her family home. Her father-in-law threatened to disinherit her children if she did not return to his home. He was then 75, vain, fierce and extravagant. Jane Frances managed to remain cheerful in spite of him and his insolent housekeeper.

When she was 32, she met St. Francis de Sales (October 24), who became her spiritual director, softening some of the severities imposed by her former director. She wanted to become a nun but he persuaded her to defer this decision. She took a vow to remain unmarried and to obey her director.

After three years Francis told her of his plan to found an institute of women which would be a haven for those whose health, age or other considerations barred them from entering the already established communities. There would be no cloister, and they would be free to undertake spiritual and corporal works of mercy. They were primarily intended to exemplify the virtues of Mary at the Visitation (hence their name, the Visitation nuns): humility and meekness.

The usual opposition to women in active ministry arose and Francis de Sales was obliged to make it a cloistered community following the Rule of St. Augustine. Francis wrote his famous Treatise on the Love of God for them. The congregation (three women) began when Jane Frances was 45. She underwent great sufferings: Francis de Sales died; her son was killed; a plague ravaged France; her daughter-in-law and son-in-law died. She encouraged the local authorities to make great efforts for the victims of the plague and she put all her convent’s resources at the disposal of the sick.

During a part of her religious life, she had to undergo great trials of the spirit—interior anguish, darkness and spiritual dryness. She died while on a visitation of convents of the community.




Comment:

It may strike some as unusual that a saint should be subject to spiritual dryness, darkness, interior anguish. We tend to think that such things are the usual condition of “ordinary” sinful people. Some of our lack of spiritual liveliness may indeed be our fault. But the life of faith is still one that is lived in trust, and sometimes the darkness is so great that trust is pressed to its limit.

On Renewing Your Faith

Faith must be augmented. The natural inclination to question is an innate trait of being human, a trait one has inherited since the fall of man after the transgression of Adam and Eve. The instance of questioning Divine Precepts is the temptation of satan and his devils, may the Lord God rebuke them.

Faith must be augmented and strengthened by reading The Blessed Word and enriching one's life through religious embrace.

Faith will be tempted. It is up to the individual to wage war against sin and the devil.

Pray For Those In Unstable Mind,


There is no greater torment than those who are lonely, conflicted, and those who are depressed and trapped in the cage of emotional instability.

Pray for them, our brothers and sisters, that they may have the strength to overcome their spiritual recluse. Pray for them that the Holy Spirit will invigorate their faith, that faith will speak through action, and action will permit them to rise above their present circumstance.

In the words of Archangel Gabriel, "For There Is No Impossibility with GOD!"

The Lord Jesus Christ, who hears and understands all the cries of the suffering, was gracious to cure the lame, the dying and the dead. He rose the little girl in Judea and Lazarus from the dead. And He himself was raised GLORIOUSLY on the 3rd day by HIS FATHER in HEAVEN. That death could not even take the LORD GOD JESUS CHRIST.

His compassion knows no limitation,
His mercies Infinite as the universe that He created.

May the Lord grant peace and comfort to the sick and the dying.
And may those suffering the last stages of terminal illness have the courage to Seek His Grace, and to take hold of His salvation. The release of their pains in life.

Lord, Hear our prayer.

EAVESDRoPPING oN SENIoR CITIzENS

What did we bring into the world? Nothing! What can we take out of the world? Nothing! â€" 1Timothy 6:7

I looked for a vacant table after I ordered my usual breakfast value meal and cup of coffee. As I placed the tray on the table, I noticed that a group of senior citizens in the next table were also enjoying their breakfast.

In between my sips of coffee and pancake bites, it was difficult not to hear their stories and laughter. Their combined voices seemed to come out of a booming speaker. I looked around for another vacant place to transfer but there was none. Little did I know that this moment would be a great source of learning.

They didn’t talk about fashion or compare the cars they were driving. They didn’t discuss what gadget was “hot” and how big their houses were. All they talked about was their old adventures together and how their former classmates were doing. They exchanged stories about their grand kids. They also discussed how they spent the previous day and their plans for today. It was obvious how much fun they were having. They had what probably most rich people would pay for â€" happy relationships!

We came in this world because of love and it’s the only thing we can bring when we leave this world. Alvin fabella

Gotcha!   

God will always get at you on the run. The ego is moving straight ahead into success and power, into good name, achievement and all the other stupid things that we race after. Then once in a while you glimpse out of the corner of your eye what really matters. Gotcha!

Now-here vs. Nowhere   

Most of us live in the past, carrying our hurts, guilts and fears. We have to face the pain we carry, lest we spend the rest of our lives running away from it or letting it run us. But the only place you’ll ever meet the real is now-here.

Live in the Present   

It’s the hardest place for us to live, the place where we’re most afraid to live, because it feels so empty and boring. Now-here almost always feels like nowhere, and that’s precisely where we must go.

Building Your Bridge   

You can’t build a bridge from the middle. You must choose a starting point. What the gospel is saying, pure and simple, is that wherever you’re going to start building your bridge, you better start from the side of powerlessness, not power.
