Fifty-two youth leaders from the cities of Bago and La Carlota in Negros Occidental completed their skills and leadership training under the Rafael M. Salas Nature Park: Youth Commitment for Sustainable Development project recently, a press release from organizers said.

The project was implemented by the RMS Park and Nature Center, United Nations Population Fund and the University of St. La Salle, through the Institute of Negros Development.

Cash grants of P4,000 were given to the youth leaders as starting funds for their proposed livelihood projects, by USLS-IND director Rhoderick Samonte, Bago senior environment specialist Vicente Mesias, and RMSPNC executive director Carmelita Salas, the press release also said.

Almasiga saplings were given to the participants, whose trainings included environmental conservation, leadership and sustainable development for the RMSPNC and neighboring communities.

USLS Vice Chancellor for Mission and Development, Geoffrey Bob Bergante, lauded the efforts of program partners and stakeholders from the government and non-government sectors, including the Bago, La Carlota and the province of Negros Occidental.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. - John 3:16-18
