Gen. 1 & 2 - we see from the beginning that the complimentarity of the sexes reflects God's inner unity and His creative power and Fatherhood. God created man and woman to become one flesh which is consummated in the act of marital love.

Gen. 2:18 â€" throughout the creation story, God says “it is good” seven times. But when God pointed out that man was alone, God says “it is not good.” God then created woman. Man and woman therefore belong together by God’s design, according to His natural and supernatural law.

Gen. 2:24 â€" God created man and woman so that they could share communion. This communion is consummated in the marital act (which must be between a man and a woman). This communion is also a reflection of the eternal communion of the Blessed Trinity, who created man in His own image and likeness.

Gen. 19:24-28 - the Lord rained fire and brimstone on Sodom and Gomorrah as punishment for the sin of homosexuality. Homosexuality perverts God’s covenant with humanity.

Gen 13:13; 18:20: while homosexuals argue that the sin in Genesis 19 was the sin of “inhospitality,” these verses show that the Sodomites were evil and wicked people before the alleged sin of inhospitality. That is because the Sodomites were guilty of homosexuality, not inhospitality. In fact, 2 Pet 2:6:8 says that Lot witnessed their evil sexual practices “day after day.” The Sodomites’ sin was daily and pervasive.

Gen 19:5: this confirms that the Sodomites’ sin is homosexuality. Here, the Sodomites mistaken the two angels for men and, surrounding Lot’s house, ask to have sex with them. When the yell to Lot “bring them out that we may know them,” the Hebrew for “to know” (yadah) in Gen 19:5 means having sexual relations. See, for example, Gen 4:25 where “yadah” refers to sexual relations between Adam and Eve.

2 Pet 2:6-10: Peter also proves that the Sodomites were guilty of homosexuality. He says God condemned them for “licentiousness” and “lust of defiling passion,” which is where we get the title “Sodomite” for a homosexual. The Greek “aselgeia anastrophes” for lustful behavior is also found in Rom 13:13; Gal 5:19; Eph 4:19 and Jude 4.

Jude 7: Jude also confirms the Sodomites’ sin is homosexuality. Jude says they “indulged in unnatural lust” (Greek, ekporneusasai) and went after “strange flesh” (Greek, sarkos heteras) in reference to their homosexual sins.

2 Peter 2:4-6: Peter also reveals that the Sodomites are suffering in hell for their sins by comparing the Sodomites’ punishment to the eternal punishment of the evil angels. Just as God did not spare the angels when they sinned but cast them into hell, so He did the same with the Sodomites when He “condemned them to extinction and made them an example to those who were to be ungodly.”

Jude 5-7: Like Peter, Jude confirms that the Sodomites are in hell by saying that they had the same fate as the evil angels. Jude says just as the evil angels were condemned to hell, the Sodomites “likewise” (Greek, hos) acted immorally and are undergoing a punishment of eternal fire. “Undergoing” (Greek, upechousai) is a present participle which means their suffering is ongoing. See also the clear polarity between those who are saved (v.5) and those who are condemned (vv. 6-7,11,13).

Lev. 18:22, 29 - God commands a man never to lie with a male as with a female, or he will be cut off. This refers to supernatural death which is eternal separation from God. While the Old Covenant laws have been abrogated by the New Covenant, the Church has adopted their moral principles. Thus, the moral prohibitions on homosexuality still apply in the New Covenant, as Peter, Paul and Jude demonstrate.

Lev. 20:13 - God says that if a man lies with another man, he shall be put to death. From the very beginning, God has revealed that homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered, unhealthy, and mortally sinful.

Deut. 22:5 - cross-dressing is also considered an abomination before God.

Matt. 19:6 - after referring to God's divine plan for man and woman, Jesus says a husband and wife become one flesh, which ultimately reflects God's union with humanity through the Church. Homosexual unions pervert this divine truth of God’s love for and union with the human race.

Rom. 1:26 - also, when a woman lies with another women (lesbianism), this is unnatural and a perversion. God wants His children to be pure and holy as He is holy. Paul condemns all homosexual acts, whether committed by men or women.

Rom. 1:27 â€" Paul calls the practice of homosexuality shameless, unnatural and a perversity. It is contrary to the natural law, as it eviscerates the life-giving aspect of human sexuality and reduces it to a selfish, pleasure-seeking end.

1 Cor 6:9: Paul teaches that sodomites will not enter into the kingdom of God. The Greek word for “sodomite” (arsenokoites) literally means “male copulation” or “male sexual relations.” The Greek “arsen” means “male” and “koites” means “coitus” or “sexual relations.” Paul uses the same word in 1 Tim 1:10.

1 Tim. 1:10 - sodomites are called ungodly and sinners, unholy and profane, lawless and disobedient. They are called by God to chastity. It is important to note that homosexual attractions and inclinations, while disordered and dangerous, are not by themselves sinful per se. It is the acting out on homosexual attraction that is sinful. Those with homosexual desires can still live a life worthy of Christ by remaining chaste and pure as they abstain from acting out on their desires.

The scientific community has actually made hedgeway to this. In certain case studies, there is a definite positive correlation to homosexuality and genetic predisposition. Genetics and neuroscience studies from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, the most prestigious medical institution in the United States, actually noted that homosexual men have a greater prevalence of x chromosomes than heterosexuals. Researchers have looked closely at the DNA of these patients to try and find the region of the X chromosome (since the earlier research suggested that the gene was passed down maternally) that most of the homosexual brothers shared and discovered that homosexuals have a much higher likelihood of inheriting the same genetic sequence on the region of the X chromosome identified by Xq28, than heterosexuals.
Note that the x chromosome is the genetic codet for a female. Females have XX chromosomes, while males have XY chromosomes (x-being the maternal link and Y-being the paternal link).

Other studies also indicate that homosexuality is not only genetic, but also influenced by social behaviour and the environment one is brought up in. There is great dialogue about this in the halls of academia--primarily great reference to the process of: Observational Learning. That individuals aquire traits and acts via the observation of their collegues, friends, parents as the observer grows. There has been extensive case studies of male children who were raised by homosexual fathers or had homosexual friends during childhood---eventually grew up to manifest those same characteristics.

In my view, homosexuality is not a product of genetics alone, but also society and the environment one is placed it. Some of my collegues who are geneticists and neurophysiologists believe that homosexuality is a natural processes of human selection. A way of the species (homo sapien) to limit its profund growth. Externally speaking, humans have no natural predators, as humans are apex predators, with no natural enemies, the species will grow until the food sources are starved, unless something is done to 'check' it. With little to no limiting factor to provide a natural 'check', the species itself will limit itself from overgrowing---almost a case by case reference to the Malthusian concept.

As a scientist, I think that homosexuality is nature's way of inhibiting human over-growth. There needs to be a check to our parasitic species---or else our energy sources would be starved outright. The phenomenon of homosexuality is global, no nation is free of this condition, and no time in mankind's history is exempted from homosexuality's presence. Either if we research ancient Rome, Greece, Egypt, Aztec, China, Japan, India, Russia etc--all had experienced it--and continue to experience it. It is nature's only answer to our species' growth.

A new study asks an interesting genetics question: if there was a gene that controlled homosexualityâ€"and hence limited reproductionâ€"how could it be favored to exist? If there is a gene that causes one to not reproduce, natural selection would dictate that it cannot survive long in a population, since it is not being passed on to future generations. It is known that human twins are more likely to both be gay when compared with non-identical siblings. The question then becomes: if a gene existed that caused one to have no desire to reproduce (through heterosexual intercourse), how can this theoretical gene persist throughout generations?

The theoretical study by Gavrilets and Rice looked at a single gene with two alleles (variants) and examines three previously reported hypotheses as to how this gene can persist in a population. It should be noted that this model did not strictly classify an individual as straight or gay, but determined the level of homosexual activity by relating it to the fitness within the model. The first mechanism examined is one of overdominance, where in this scenario if the offspring only receives the 'gay allele' from one parent (heterozygous), then they would have a competitive reproductive advantage over others in the population. Here the 'gay allele' would need to be received from both parents (homozygous) in order for the offspring to exhibit homosexuality and have a reproductive disadvantage. The next hypothesis is one of kin altruism, where homosexuals would help their own family members, thereby increasing the family's fitness and allowing the gene (which would be present in the family group) to be passed on to the next generation. The final previously posited hypothesis, sexually antagonistic selection, is thatâ€"in the case of male homosexualityâ€"the allele would result in a fitness loss for male offspring, but a fitness gain in female offspring. The gain in fitness for female offspring would potentially result in more offspring in the next generation having this allele.

Through modeling of classical population-genetics equations, the authors describe the evolution and frequency of these two alleles throughout a large population. The authors find conditions in which overdominace or sexually antagonistic selection hypotheses could lead to a stable population with this homosexual gene in place when it is located on autosomes (non-sexual chromosomes) or on the X chromosome. The models found that under the sexually antagonistic selection, the homosexual allele would become very prevalent, provided that those who carried two alleles of it were generally bisexual. This is an interesting hypothesis, which seems to hearken back to the work of Kinsey in the late 1940's and early 1950's where he suggested that sexuality was a spectrum and people were not fully straight or gay, but existed somewhere in between. This work at hand represents a interesting study into the 'Darwinian paradox of male homosexuality'

I used to have a "to each his own" attitude and thought that it was okay to be gay or a lesbian. However, since reading The Word I know that it is not God's intention but it is anti-God to be gay. He created two sexes for a reason and it is a sin to be with your own gender. The enemy is prevailing in the world because it's now "okay" or even "cool" to be gay nowadays. My view ani, is to each his/her own. Their choice in life in their sexual preference is their own, as the Lord God gave us free will. I respect their individual choice in life. Their life is their own.

But like you, Mr. Daray, when I read scripture, it tells us the contrary. Scripture is completely against the act, and within Church tradition, it is also considered a sin.

I invite all who are practicing Christians (protestant or catholic, matters not the denomination, christian is christian), one needs to read OLD TESTAMENT as well as NEW TESTAMENT. For those who are serious in reading the bible and knowing what Sacred Scripture teaches about this subject:

In my tenure in the Newman Catholic Collegiate Conference, a fellow of mine who was a Catholic as well as she was lesbian. She asked this question in our youth group-based bible study within the Catholic Church.

She asked, "Will I go to hell for being a lesbian and having thoughts? Does God hate me for this?"

And our priest/pastor, answered her question so beautifully that touched my own heart. He said, "The Lord God does not hate the sinner, he loves the sinner, he came down from HEAVEN to EARTH for the sinner. So that who so ever believes in HIM, and heeds his laws, will be saved!

our priest/pastor ended by saying, "God Hates the SIN! but he LOVES the sinner!"

Of course salvation is possible. But the act itself is a sin. It is a sin just like adultery, murder, theft, lie, etc.

For anyone to argue that will need to study scripture and christian/catholic doctrine. And I invite them to read the pages of Holy Scripture. And read and accept truth.

The Catholic Church's position on this is that the act is a sin. Like any sin, if it is truly affecting some people's judgement, it is advised that he or she go to Church and repent. And perform the Sacrament of Confession. Confess your sins, whatsoever it may be. And your sin will be absolved. Contrition mandated.
