Handicraft Display Center in Tubigon

Tubigon Mayor Luna Piezas and Representative Edgar Chatto's wife, Pureza, led the blessing and inauguration of the Common Production and Handicraft Display Center on February 12 in barangay Pinayagan Norte.

The program started with a holy mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Tomas Balatayo, with participation of the officers, staff and members of Tubigon Loom-weaving Multi-Purpose Cooperative (TLMPC).          

The riboon-cutting ceremony followed, led by Mayor Piezas, the first district congressman's wife and other guests.

TLMPC's vision of establishing a strong, progressive and sustainable loom-weaving cooperative has now becoming a reality through the joint efforts of AusAID/PACAP, Fundacion Santiago, LGU-Tubigon, VICTO, DTI, Governor Erico Aumentado, Representative Chatto, Provincial Board Member Alfonso Damalerio II, Bea Zobel of the Ayala Foundation, barangay officials of Pinayagan Norte and other key players of the industry.

Raffia loom-weaving has been an age-old tradition and source of livelihood among the folks of Pinayagan.
