This applies to virus checks, file backups and operating system enhancements. When you have to take three hours out of your day to deal with a virus or to defrag your hard drive, productivity goes down the toilet.

P.S. I have been attacked by all sorts of virus. The most dangerous one forced me to reinstall my Windows. The virus even prevented me from implementing System Restore.
Romans 10:9
"That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved."

IMHO, "auto-update" on micro$oft products might be true to normal users but if you do understand your operating system and the software you installed in your computer, you better use "custom update" to avoid software conflicts and some other unexpected events.

BTW, make sure your anti-virus runs the latest virus definition and engine for better protection so auto-update is much applicable for this. :)
