I really admire the Moros; they are an unconquerable people.

The Spanish Empire could not even subdue them, even after almost half a millenia of Imperialism in the Philippines. Luzon, the Visayas and Northern Mindanao were 'Christianized' and 'Civilized' according to them, but the south and Muslim Mindanao remained feral and barbaric.

Muslim Mindanao is the only 'footprint' of what Philippines was like before Spain's Hispanization of the entire archipelago.


Even after Spain was dislodged from the Philippines, the Americans, too, were unable to pacify the 'Moros'. The United States tried to kill them, waging wars and even inventing the revolver in order to combat the Moro bolo-warrior who dismembered American infantrymen in the jungles. America, the World's Super power could not even conquer and silence the Moros in her time in the Philippines.

When Japan invaded the Philippines in 1942, Luzon and the Visayas fell to the Empire of the Rising Sun. However, Japan too was also unable to conquer and commit the Moros of the south to cooperate. The Japanese too fell prey to the Kriss of the Moro warrior.


No one has conquored the Moro. Never in the past and never in the future.
