Former German cyclist Erik Zabel admitted to using performance-enhanced substances during his career, according to German newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung on Sunday.

Zabel, a six-time best sprinter of the Tour de France, said he used EPO, cortisone and even blood doping from 1996-2004.

The 43-year-old, who retired in 2008, had previously admitted in 2007 that he used EPO in 1996.
