maajo tingali for january 2013. greet the new year w/ a bang

[pioneer]

Balong, thank you for the support of this tournament.

I will talk to the management of ICM kung pwede ba gamiton ang ilang venue.

Magkolekta ta ug minimal registration fee that will cover the T-Shirt, ID, and snacks. Sa Cebu nga mga chess tournament, ang pinakadako nga price is P3,000 - winner take all.

I expect nga moabot ang mga taga Cebu ug Dumaguete and other cities in order to join this tournament.

[pioneer]

for those who will join this tournament, please contact me via cellphone 0920-630-1130 or via email: info@mikeligalig.com

[balong]

okey kaajo ni mike da. P3000 ra man diay ang premyo sa cebu. winner take all pa. we will make this an annual event. ayaw na pangita ug laing sponsor. mag hago hago lang ka. ang pina kalisod jud mao ang pag pangita ug prizes. hago mag sigi ug pangajo ug donations unja way mang hatag. disappointed ko sa virgilio bucia fund. ok lang kay kining imong idea madajon jud ni.

[balong]

gara gara-on ko nga pagka tawo. naa koy pagka hambogero. natural lang kay kini gong wa jamo ta, paka pinan na lang nato ug pang hambog. i am not a millionaire but i have a heart of gold. i need to do something with my life so that when i pass away, naa pay ma hinomdom nato. thank you mike for giving me a chance to do something worthwhile. steady lang nato ang mga premyo every year. ok lang na. pero one day mo tojo jud ko ug pa uli ug mang hatag ta ug prize sa imong chess tournament nga dili ma topngan sa tibook pilipinas. THIS I PROMISE

mike,
this will be the streamer nga ahong ipa butang sa among balay sa maribojoc ibabaw sa PALAWAN PAWNSHOP. when i do something mike, i move fast mentras in the mood pa ko. kay ug mawad-an na pod ko ug gana aho na pong ma limtan. aho dajon ning ipa printa sa ahong amigo, si yorbs bayonas, webmaster of bolanon.com

[balong]

mike,

[pioneer]

ready na ni Balong. After my final exam, magpaprinta pud ko ug banner para mabutang sa mga eskina sa Tagbilaran. palihug ko dugang sa banner:

Registration Fee: P300 (inclusive of T-shirt, ID, and snacks for final round)

I expect nga at least 50 players will participate kay sa premyo nga P1,500 diri 40 kapin man ang nangapil ug winner take all lang to. No t-shirt, NO ID.

[pioneer]

Ang gamiton ani is Swiss Round System. Kung daghan ang player, 11 rounds ni. The game can be done every weekend sa ICM. After 11 rounds, we'll get the top 4 who will battle for the Best of 7 Finals (fighting for 1st and 2nd) and fighting for (3rd and 4th place).

Championship prize is P20,000.

[balong]

maybe mo salida ta ug winner take all tournament. one of these days.

[balong]

i like the idea of a winner take all tournament. no holds barred. no mercy. only 1 can win. mora ba ug highlander. highlander is one of my favorite movie series. ug james bond pod. i have a collection of vhs and dvd james bond. pero wa na ko mo kuha sa latest james bond. maot nawong ang actor. mas gwapo pa ko

[Lorenzo]

Maayo pod ni, good project Mike and Balong.

[balong]

2013 mao ni atong introduction

2014 we will rock the philippine chess world by offering the largest prize ever. atong palabwan ang premyo sa shell open chess tournament

[balong]

kaya natong mo hatag ug P50,000 1st prize. giving money away is my idea of having fun. pero dugay pa ni mahitabo kay gamay pa ug sod ang arkansiya

[balong]

[balong]

[balong]

mike,

nahuman na ang poster nga ahong gipa gama. nanawag ko sa ahong maguwang nga ijang pick upon. unja sija na lang poy bayad sa P1800. wa man pod intawon mo reklamo ahong maguwaqng. on with the show

bals

[balong]

mike,

i wonder if its just a coincidence or there is something going on. that SOMEONE is watching over me. ever since your proposal that i sponsor a chess tournament, good things are happening. nag estorya mi sa ahong maguwang. kinhangan sa ahong mga igsoon ang special power of attorney. ako man guy hari hari sa among clan hihihihi. kay gusto sa among mga relatives ibaligya ang usa ka parcel of land sa cebu. in lapulapu. 60000 sq. m. @ P5000/sq.m.  sa ahong pinsar, barato ra kaayo ang P5000 pero okey na lang seguro. kay ang buyer, gaisano, mao may mag pahawa sa mga squatters. gi occupy man gud ug squatters ning loteha. what's your take on this my friend. mas labaw man jud ka ug knowledge about legal matters.

you dont have to worry about the funding of our chess tournament. we can hold this every year kay gamay ra man ni. about $300 lang. what i am thinking about is something BIG. a few years from now, human sa warm up, mo hatag ta ug mas dagko nga prizes. dont know how much shell will give . pero kong P20,000 lang gihapon ang ilang 1st prize, we can easily top it.

thank you for giving me the honor of pioneering this big time chess tournaments in bohol. kay tiaw bay P1500 lang ang kina dak-ang premyo sukad ma sukad diha sa tagbilaran. unja entrahan dajon nato ug P5000 nga 1st prize

thanks for the assist

[balong]

i am hoping that something good can come out of this tournament. we can encourage our young ones to play chess. i dont play chess. i play basketbol. but when mike suggested this, i gave my whole hearted cooperation. basin pa ug maka produce ang bohol ug mga grandmasters. kay sa basketbol gud, lupig ta bisan unsaon. basketbol is a game for tall pipol, while in chess it is a battle of brains

[MikeLigalig.com]

next month, we'll start issuing press releases to bohol chronicle, sunday post, bohol times, bohol balita, bohol standard newspapers to drum up participation of boholano and non-boholano chess players.

sir balong

wait, wait, wait... gimata-mata lang tingali ko, pero akong sabot ikaw ang nakahunahuna ani unya gi-pick up ni mr webmaster as a worthwhile venture.  not that whoever had this germ of an idea would make a difference, pero maayo ning klaro ang estorya aron di ta maghibat.

at the very least, tungod kay ikaw ang nag-una ani, pwes, di na ka magluod-luod ha if ever there are comments that are not to your liking from some sectors, okay?  di na ka magbinata ug i-shall-disappear-forgive-me or change the rules halfway, okay?  do not stake your bannered name in this tournament.  forthwith, protect your name henceforth, comments notwithstanding in as much as...

seriously, you've got to wake up to the fact that those who hold the money do not always control the pin of a hand grenade.

[balong]

this idea did not come from me. it came from the webmaster. ask him

di na unta ko mag pakita dinhi , HONESTLY, but then i got hooked up w/ this. i saw this as a chance for redemption. kay wa na ko mo angay nga sayon sayonon lang ko sa ubang member dinhi. naka menos ug maajo nato ba. i am not a milyoner but i have a heart of gold. i want to do something worthwhile and when mike suggested this tournament, i told him to go ahead.

[balong]

ADIOS MIS AMIGOS y AMIGAS

[pioneer]

Balong is right. I am the one who suggested the Rene Balong Econg Open Chess Tournament. I was thinking of offering the idea to a politician but I was avoiding of political indebtedness. Since Balong is not a politician, and has been known in Maribojoc to have sponsored several basketball tournaments, I suggested to him whether he is agreeable to sponsor a chess tournament in Bohol. This idea came to me upon learning that there is now a Boholano (first ever) who is a candidate for a Grandmaster Title. His name is Oliver Dimakiling. Bohol also has a Woman National Master. Her name is Jedara Docena. Observers predict she would also get a Grandmaster Title five years from now.

The title of the tournament is solely my preference. This is the practice done in most chess tournaments when there is only one person who is the source/sponsor for all prizes, thus the Rene Balong Econg Open Chess Tournament.

Again, the reason I approached Balong to sponsor this kind of tournament because, according to many who know him personally in bolanon.com and in tubagbohol.com, he has been an active supporter/sponsor of many sports activities in his hometown in Maribojoc.

[fdaray]

Nag-last farewell na man ka Balong, asa diay ka.

i am humbled thus.  please accept my apologies for my comments the basis of which i didn't fully understand, considering the gaps in what can be read openly.  i hope balong comes back to go on with a worthwhile project.  everything is clear now.  besides, why be affected with a comment from someone like me, who am a failed chess player?  please give yourself this break, sir balong, and in so doing, you give everyone else this same break.

come back soon.  i believe the tournament and your support of it is way above anybody's opinion, most specially mine.

i'm very sorry.

[islander]

sir balong, let me share one more important thing about this...

your commitment to mike ortega ligalig and those countless chess players in need of a venue is way over and above anybody's contrarian opinion, if ever such exists.  i daresay mine was not contrarian at all.  it was just a careless one.  nahibung lang ko nganong samokan ka.

[Lorenzo]

I commend you, Isles ! Balong, I hope you answer Isles' post. Let there be reconciliation here, my dear beloved friends.

Colossians tells us,

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

-Colossians 3:12-14

[Pikoy]

we weww!! again! so bad!

[pioneer]

After Balong's tournament, I am thinking of requesting Bran Lorenzo to sponsor another tournament to be held during the Summer of 2013 (perhaps Bran Lorenzo Chess Tournament 2013 Summer Edition) para ma-sustain nato ang interest sa chess ug dunay monthly or quarterly tournament.

There is no limit as to how much prize will be given. Depende na sa mo-sponsor. Ang ato lang maka-encourage ta sa mga butan-an nga mo-engage into the game of chess as this has been proven to be a good exercise for mental development.

In fact, in Europe and in India, chess is a subject in their elementary and high school curriculum. Please read more about this research at http://www.quadcitychess.com/benefits_of_chess.html
