Why is it that there are some people out there who get mad if someone compares them to plastic?

i mean what is wrong for plastic? it is strong/durable, it floats, light to carry and cheaper .

my guess:  'plastic' means fake or artificial in filipino slang.  used to describe persons, it could only mean 'hypocritical'.  no wonder no filipino wants to be called 'plastic'.  as for things, despite the qualities of plastic mentioned, consider the difference between plastic and bone china dinnerware.  it's hands down for the latter.
Republic Act 8485 (Animal Welfare Act of 1998, Philippines), as amended and strengthened by House  Bill 6893 of 2013--- violation means a maximum of P250,000 fine with a corresponding three-year jail term and a minimum of P30,000 fine and six months imprisonment

Hmm, I look forward to the evolution of a positive connotation of the word in Philippine usage...
