This is a favorite of mine. In fact, I recited this in class when I was in high school.  All of us, in fact, because it was a class requirement. I remember laughing in silence because one classmate pronounced the words the "hard" (pinagahi) way, as follows:

Many Whitman enthusiasts probably know this, but for those that do not, this poem was written in dedication to the assassinated President Abraham Lincoln. By his hand, the infant American nation weathered the civil war, by his promulgation of the Emancipation Proclamation, ended Slavery.

No ... although it depends on the material. I do write scripts for plays, mostly Binisaya.

Do you? Very nice. As for this poem, they had a poet's corner recitation event in Philadelphia some time ago where there were live recitations of famous poems; on stage. I think you would have enjoyed it.

What kind of Bisaya plays did you work with? Am interested.
