This song is sung in the Sama dialect in Tawi-tawi, and its not Tausug at all.

I have no idea what the lyrics means at all, tho they do have the bahasay malay version of this song, which can be translated into tagalog.

The Bahasa Malay translation/lyrics:

Ku sayang kepadamu
Dayang cinta kamu

Hatiku dihantui bayangan mu
Sejak mula kita bertemu
Hatiku sembuh dari luka
Bila memandang wajahmu
Kuhanyut dibuai rasa rindu padamu
Kuinginkan kau dekat bersama dengan ku selalu…

Korus:
Ku sayang kepadamu
Dayang cinta kamu
Bilakan dapat bertemu
Kusayang kepadamu
Dayang perlukanmu
Kau pengubat di kala pilu

Kata-katamu sentiasa membuatku
Tertawan pada kamu
Ikhlas dilafazkan tulus
Dari hatimu buat ku cinta kamu
Ku hanyut dibuai rasa rindu padamu
Kuinginkan kau dekat bersama
Denganku selalu….

Rap: Buatku melayang-layang
Terbayang-bayang
Sentiasa oh di depan mata
Merata-rata, sini sana
Impiku bawa mu terbang
TInggi di angkasa
Petik bintang berkelipan
Seakan aura yang diberikan
Lihat lengkung bulan seperti tersenyum
Melihat kita berdua
Bisikan jiwa masih tertanya-tanya
Adakah Dayang masih tidak percaya
Yang aku cinta dia?
Mungkin ya? Ucapan ku tidak sempurna
Mungkin ya? Belai mesraku tidak seperti mahunya

Ku sayang, kucinta tiada apa dipinta
Oh kita berdua akan terus bersama

Rap: Ya, sudah pasti sudah tentu
Itu yang ku mahu, yang kau mahu

Dayang sayang kamu

Yes it is a muslim Sama song. It's much closer to bahasa malay than it is to Visaya.

Pilipino gihapon, Tawi-Tawi (SAMA) dialect lang. Pero the location of Tawi Tawi is closer to Malaysia. The dialect they are singing in is called 'SAMA' and this dialect is much closer to Bahasa Malay (the language of Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia) than Tagalog.

This is an example of their dialect, the name of the following song is "Susulan Tawi Tawi".

People in Malaysia can understand what they are saying more than Tagalogs and Visayans can.

~~

Compare this to the following Malay song called "Bermohon Sembah Berhajat".

lorz an interesting fact in response sa imo last post

Pasiagan - Is the weekend capital for most of the Bongao residents because of fine white beaches. The setting of the famous song "Susulan Tawi-Tawi" is here. This love song is composed by a GI Joe who fell in love with a 'dayang-dayang' (princess). This noble lady is still alive

haha. Is that so? Never knew that! Now that shames me since an American GI knew how to speak in SAMA and wrote a song and I can't even understand the dialect. lol!

Reading that post, i realize 2 things:

1. There are so many dialects in the philippines--and thus makes our country really beautiful. Region to region there are so many unique traits.

2. American GIs or Americans in general truly do have a 'thing' for Filipina women. lol.
