i was in a dinner with a couple an hour ago. and the husband told this story about an old woman complaining about her hearing. She said that she would rather become blind than become deaf.

We know how embarrassing it is when people keep repeating what they're saying to us because we're as deaf as a post. but it is also almost the same, when we see nothing of what's going on. it sparked a short discussion between the two of us.

what's your take?

I would rather be deaf than not be able to see the beautiful things around me.

When we are deaf, there are still chances to hear through hearing aids.

my take?  I'd rather be deaf.  I don't need ears to be able to listen but then again neither do I need eyes to see. hahaha nayabag na wa diay ko'y gapilion? bitaw, maayo pa bungol kay sa buta. 

i have so much respect for people who loses these senses and yet they are still happy and they still make their lives productive.  Daghan nato completo atong mga senses and yet we wasted we don't value them.

it's one of the concerns of the elderly here, as far as we're concerned. many like more to keep their hearing sharp than their eyesight. they mind what to hear (tsimis maybe hahahha), because they've seen enough.

hahaha, because some of us have different perspective in life, ayessa, in certain way. as we age, we change our priorities, habits and choices. like that old woman, for her, to become blind is more preferable than to become deaf. which is surprising to me. it gets me into thinking, that what i can give up today, may not be the same tomorrow. have i thought of it before, no. which brings me to another level of thought, what if i'm not ready to give it up when the time comes that i am going to lose it?

of course i choose, Hearing, why? coz i can still do anything as i want even with out listening from anybody.
