Great one Lorenzo.

From you, I learned that we do not need benign dictatorship to develop our country. Indeed, Philippines has great resources (natural and human) to boast.

Actually, corruption is not only true in the Philippines but in other countries as well. In 2007, Philippines was proudly adjudged as the 4th Most Corrupt Country in South East Asia. What I can't fully fathom is the fact that poor countries tend to be more corrupt that the giant countries. I think, these polticians need to be educated.

BTW, corruption is not our sole topic here so I should ask again, "WHO SHOULD INITIATE THE CHANGE?"

IMHO, it's the duty of every Filipino citizen. Let's not just sit back on a corner and wait for change to come and pat our shoulders. We can do something simple yet great for our near-to-hopeless country. Each one of us has a unique gift from up above. Let's share it to everyone. Let's tell the world that Philippines is not just made of corrupt and greedy leaders. Let's show to the world that Philippines is made of good citizens who are worthy of healthy lifestyle.

As Filipino citizens, let's not just talk about a certain issue but let's try our best to be a part of the solution of a certain problem. Instead of marching along the street and shout for CHANGE, we can spend our time wisely by starting organizations/communities to help the needy ones and share our abilities in educating the poor to become self-reliant.

We can do so many things. Let's do it by heart. Let's do it by faith. I am sure, all we need is a brighter Philippines for the next generation. Can we compromise the future of our children?

My question now is, "WHAT CAN WE DO NOW?"

Yes, indeed! :D :D :D

According to Mahatma Gandhi, we should be the change that we want to see. Let's be vigilant. Let's do simple yet vital deeds for development.

I have read a post from a forum somewhere out there which says, "Philippines needs a BENIGN DICTATORSHIP like the one of Lee Kwan Yew in Singapore." As we know, Singapore became a very progressive country from being a third world country. Now, it's one of the GIANTS in terms of economy in Asia and said to be the cleanest because of the huge penalty they impose. :D :D :D

There are so many Filipinos in Singapore, China, Hongkong, USA, Canada and other parts of the world who are very abiding to the law of their host country. If we can do it in a foreign land, why can't we do it in the Philippines? The present situation may sound hopeless but if each one of us will do our part as Filipino citizen, we will be able to make it.

My question is, "Should "benign dicatatorship" be our last resort? Can't we personally do things with our utmost desire for progress?"

Our country is facing a lot of crisis nowadays. Political crisis and economic crisis are just the prevalent few. We hear good/bad news from the television everyday about our country but most of the times bad. Some say, it's the government officials' duty to initiate the change we are hoping for our country. Some say, it's the responsibility of every citizen. SO NOW, WHAT? WHO SHOULD INITIATE THE CHANGE?

This thread is not just a leave-it-printed thread. We hope that the ideas that we can share towards the topic can help us realize our dreams.

God bless!

Most of the Boholano forumers here are working abroad. I think it's good if we can share our ideas on what can we do to help our small province and our country- the Philippines.

wow! mingawon man pud ta ug samot sa Pilipinas ani... Salamat slackware for posting this song...
As my contribution, here is the lyrics of the song...

The Promise (I'll Never Say Goodbye)

Ogie Alcasid ft Regine Velasquez

Say goodbye
When i can barely say goodnight
If i can hardly take my heart from yours
How far can i go
Walk away
The thought would never cross my mind
I couldn’t turn my back on spring or fall
Your smile leaves a void

When i say always, i mean forever
I trust tomorrow as much as today
I am not afraid to say i love you
But i promise you, i’ll never say goodbye

We’re dancers on a crowded floor
While other dancers leave from song to song
Our music goes on
Our music goes on
Our music goes on..

And if i never leave your arms
I really would’ve travelled everywhere
For my world is there

When i say always, i mean forever
I trust tomorrow as much as today
I am not afraid to say i love you
And i promise you, i’ll never say goodbye

How could I ever say goodbye

Truly, the moderators play a great role in this forum. Global Mods, wer are friends, right? :D :D :D :D :D

It's so nice to be in a forum which has a Boholano atmosphere. The one which talks about issues that affect the people and not the one which talks about people who affect the issues.

Keep it up global mods and your effort is worth it.

BTW, it's said that one of the requirements to be a global mod is to have a perfect attendance and to be punctual. Is anybody checking the members' attendance and punctuality here? :D :D :D
