« on: June 19, 2007, 07:02:50 AM »
Hi, I'm GEC. But I'm not a geek.     ;)

As of today, June 18, 2007 (6:56 AM local time), I have logged in to Tubag Bohol for an equivalent of 1 day and 40 minutes, with 125 posts, and as a Full Member (3 stars).

This is my way of celebrating my 1st day jubilee!

In this place, I have rediscovered the road I once trod
Anonymity has awakened my slumbering desires

Rock on!

Anonymous Diary Blog / Drunk driving reminder
« on: June 17, 2007, 08:42:49 PM »
While passing through Dumaguete years ago, a radio DJ intoned this solemn reminder:

"Remember, when you drink, don't drive. When you drive, don't drink... moderately."

Humpty Dumpty Sat on a Wall
Humpty Dumpty Had a Great Fall
     And all the King's Horses
     And all the King's Men
     Could not put Humpty Dumpty
     Together again.

This seemingly senseless nursery rhyme
suddenly found meaning in 1986 after the
fall of the Marcos regime.

From Alfredo Navarro Salangga:
No tree lives without dying
No tree lives without touching
                                        the sky.

From an old Russion proverb:
Even the trees die standing

From Lex Luther, Superman the movie:
It is not enough that I succeed. Everyone else must fail.

Anonymous Diary Blog / Bambam bodie & bambam bodero
« on: June 17, 2007, 08:21:02 PM »
I was a freshman in college when a senior was singing this song with his trusty guitar:

I am a young caballero
I'm on my way to Taclobo
I bought with me my bambam bodie
And both of my bambam bodero

I went to a gay town fiesta
And met a lovely seniorita
She wanted to see my bambam bodie
And both of my bambam bodero

I took her to my hacienda
And laid her on a sofalita
And showed her the tip of my bambam bodie
And both of my bambam bodero

That daughter of a bitch seniorita
Gave me a dose of syphillisa
Which rotten the tip of my bambam bodie
And one of my bambam bodero

I went to see Dr. Florendo
He has a sharp scalpeleto
And cut off the tip of my bambam bodie
And one of my bambam bodero

Each night as I lay on my pillow
I thought I reached the end of my will-o
For all I have left is a handful of hair
And one of my bambam bodero

Showbiz & Celebrity / Transformers The Movie
« on: June 12, 2007, 02:28:58 PM »
I am so excited about Transformers The Movie, produced by Steven Spieldberg.
I grew up on Transformers... and before that, old animated shows like Mazinger Z, Voltes V, Mecanda Robot, Grandizer, etc.

I can't wait for June 28 to come, the premier of the movie here. :D

The raging debate right here is the oil exploration off the waters between Bohol and Cebu.

Some questions raised:

1. The extent of damage of the seismic survey, which is done by detonating explosives, in terms of  envirornmental damage and fish catch.
2. Should the owners of "payaos" be paid first before they are removed?
3. Assurance that the LGUs will get their share of the national wealth.

Lawyers, by their training and mind-set, will give law and order primary concern.

Obituary / Wife of "Matud Nila" composer passed away
« on: June 08, 2007, 05:26:20 PM »
I take this short pause to remember the life of Luz Butalid Zubiri, wife of Ben Zubirir, the composer of the immortal ballad "Matud Nila".

She has crossed over to the other shore in May this year.

She, together with her two other sisters, were the ladies in the song, "Sa Lungsod sa Buenavista (may tulo ka mga dalaga)". Ben Zubiri spent time in Buenavista as a guerilla during World War II.
