An extremely dedicated dog has continued to show its loyalty, keeping watch on its owner's grave six years after he passed away.

Capitan, a German shepherd, reportedly ran away from home after its owner, Miguel Guzman, died in 2006. A week later, the Guzman family found the dog sitting by his grave in central Argentina.

Miguel Guzman adopted Capitan in 2005 as a gift for his teenage son, Damian. And for the past six years, Capitan has continued to stand guard at Miguel's grave. The family says the dog rarely leaves the site.

"We searched for him, but he had vanished," widow Veronica Guzman told LaVoz.com. "We thought he must have got run over and died.

'The following Sunday we went to the cemetery, and Damian recognized his pet. Capitan came up to us, barking and wailing as if he were crying."

Adding to the unusual circumstances, Veronica says the family never brought Capitan to the cemetery before he was discovered there.

"It is a mystery how he managed to find the place," she said.

Cemetery director Hector Baccega says he and his staff have begun feeding and taking care of Capitan.
"He turned up here one day, all on his own, and started wandering all around the cemetery until he eventually found the tomb of his master," Baccega said.

"During the day he sometimes has a walk around the cemetery, but always rushes back to the grave. And every day, at six o'clock sharp, he lies down on top of the grave, stays there all night."

But the Guzman family hasn't abandoned Capitan. Damian says the family has tried to bring Capitan home several times but that he always returns to the cemetery on his own.

"I think he's going to be there until he dies, too. He's looking after my dad," he said.

Philippine Provinces / Maguindanao “sex strike" puts clan war to bed

Maguindanao “sex strike" puts clan war to bed

Women in a Maguindanao village successfully held a “sex strike," putting an end to the “rido" or clan feuds in their area.

According to a Monday report on GMA News TV’s “State of the Nation" and “Saksi," wives in the village of Dado in Maguindanao took it upon themselves to put an end to the warring in their village by threatening to withhold sex if their husbands went on with their warring.

“Sige, punta ka diyan. Ikaw bahala, hindi ka makakauwi sa bahay, hindi kita tatanggapin," said Hasna Kandatu, a resident of the village.

A week after they first dangled the threat of a “sex strike" or “tigil pagtatalik," peace started to reign in the village—the farm to market road reopened, putting an end to the village’s dependence on rations.

The idea came from a group of women engaged in a sewing business; because of the constant feuding, they would be unable to transport their products along the village road.

The threat, the report said, did not go unnoticed by the village’s men. Lengs Kupong, one of the village leaders and Hasna Kandatu’s wife, voiced out his concern that if the “rido" continues, couples may end up separating.

“Basta makagawa ka ng masama… ganito, maghihiwalay," he said in the report.

Despite the Koran’s provisions on a woman’s responsibility to a man, Imam Council of the Philippines Chairman Imam Alim Basher said that there was nothing wrong with the village women’s “strike."

“[Walang masama sa ginawa nila] kasi talagang… they were asking for maganda kabuhayan na tahimik at yun din ang hinahanap ng Islam," he said.

The first recorded “sex strike" is detailed in Lysistrata, a play written by Aristophanes which was first performed in classical Athens in 411 BC.

Lysistrata is comedy about one woman's extraordinary mission to end The Peloponnesian War by persuading the women of Greece to withhold sex from their husbands and lovers to force a negotiated peace.

Suspect in rape-slay of teacher surrenders
BY JESSIE L. CASALDA

A suspect in the rape and murder of a public school teacher in Malita, Davao del Sur surrendered to the Talomo Police Precinct in Davao City yesterday afternoon.

Superintendent Rey Cuevas, chief of police of Malita Police Station, told radio station dxDC-RMN Davao that Benjie Baguio admitted to Talomo police having raped and killed Kim Ann Lee, a 23-year-old teacher at Lagumit Elementary School in Barangay Lagumit, Malita, Davao del Sur.

Cuevas said based on their investigation, Lee had gone home to her residence in Malita Poblacion after class on July 16, 2010.

After dinner, she decided to go out. That was the last time she was seen alive.

The victim’s decomposing body was uncovered three days later on July 19 in Barangay Lawis, Malita, Davao del Sur.

Cuevas said the victim was naked and believed strangled to death using her underwear.

Cuevas said they pinpointed Baguio as the assailant in a follow-up investigation and conducted a manhunt against him.

Baguio, however, managed to flee before the police could reach his home.

Cuevas said he believes Baguio, whose wife is also a public school teacher, was also a suspect in the rape and murder of a woman in Malita in October 2009. The victim in that case was also strangled to death using her underwear.

As of press time, Baguio was still detained at the Talomo Police Precinct as Cuevas vowed to dig deeper in their investigation to determine if there was a connection among the series of rapes and murders that have happened in Malita since 2009.

He said another case had happened in September 2009.

Kapait gyud mamahimong botilya oi!!!

Bible Study / Funny but True
« on: June 28, 2010, 04:14:56 PM »
It was e-mailed to me from my friend...i'd like to share it here...

Funny how P50 bill looks so big when you take it to the church, but so small when you take it to the market

Funny how long it takes to serve God for an hour but how quickly a team plays 60 minutes of basketball

Funny how long a couple of hours spent at church but how short they are when watching a movie

Funny how we can’t think of anything to say when we pray, but don’t have difficulty thinking of things to talk about to a friend

Funny how we get thrilled when a baseball game goes into extra innings, but we complain when a sermon is longer than the regular time

Funny how hard it is to read a chapter in the Bible but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a best selling novel

Funny how people want to get a seat in any game or concert but scramble to get backseat at church services

Funny how we need 2 or 3 weeks advance notice to fit a church event into our schedule, but can adjust our schedule for other events at the last moments

Funny how hard is for people to learn a simple gospel well enough to tell others, but how simple it is for the same people to understand and repeat gossip

Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the bible says

Funny how everyone wants to go to heaven provided they do not have to believe, or to think, or to say, or do anything

Funny how you can send a thousand jokes through e-mail and they spread like wildfire but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.

SAMAD

Agay!!!
Pagkasakit na lang gyud
Samad nga akong natagamtaman, hastang hapdusa
Nagpula, kadugay bang maayo...

Ayaw
na ug pun-i ang akong mga samad.
Kundi dapat na lang
Susihon Aron Mahatagan ug Angay'ng Dungog
