Newly discovered Asik-Asik falls in Barangay Dado, Alamada, North Cotabato attracts tourists which became one of the main attractions in the province.

Unlike any common water falls where water descends from a river or spring, Asik-Asik waters pours out from the rocks on a cliff as if curtains of water falling from the wall of rocks.

How To Get There?
Alamada is one of the municipalities in North Cotabato, Philippines and it is roughly three hours and thirty five minutes continuous travel from Manila, the capital of the Philippines – about two hours by airplane plus one hour and thirty minutes by car. This is in Mindanao, Southern Philippines.

Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars

"Chasing Cars"

We'll do it all
On our own

We don't need
Or anyone

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel

Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life

Let's waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads

I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we’re told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life

All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see

I don't know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Vanilla Twilight - Owl City

"Vanilla Twilight"

The stars lean down to kiss you
And I lie awake and miss you
Pour me a heavy dose of atmosphere
Cause I'll doze off safe and soundly
But I'll miss your arms around me
I'd send a postcard to you, dear
Cause I wish you were here

I'll watch the night turn light blue
But it's not the same without you
Because it takes two to whisper quietly
The silence isn't so bad
Till I look at my hands and feel sad
Cause the spaces between my fingers
Are right where yours fit perfectly

I'll find repose in new ways
Though I haven't slept in two days
Cause cold nostalgia chills me to the bone
But drenched in vanilla twilight
I'll sit on the front porch all night
Waist deep in thought because when
I think of you I don't feel so alone

I don't feel so alone
I don't feel so alone

As many times as I blink
I'll think of you tonight
(Tonight, tonight, tonight...)

I'll think of you tonight

When violet eyes get brighter
And heavy wings grow lighter
I'll taste the sky and feel alive again
And I'll forget the world that I knew
But I swear I won't forget you
Oh if my voice could reach back through the past
I'd whisper in your ear:
"Oh darling I wish you were here"

Weird and Extreme / Teen transforms herself into cartoon
« on: October 03, 2012, 10:23:31 AM »
Still deciding on this year's Halloween costume? Check out this flower fairy makeup tutorial by Anastasiya Shpagina (a.k.a Fukkacumi), from Ukraine. The 19-year-old hair stylist uses extreme makeup techniques and costumes to transform herself into a real-life anime character. "I'm not a like a doll, a doll is like me," she writes on her (a European version of Facebook) page.

flower-480-jpg_195249 - Show Posts - Lollapalooza

It takes Shpagina about an hour to achieve her doe-eyed look—don't worry, the video is only six minutes long. Photographs on her Facebook fan page show a dangerously waifish young woman with deep crimson hair. She says she would like to one day have surgery to reshape her eyes and nip in her waist even more drastically. Shpagina is reported to weigh only about 90 pounds. Her VK page is posted with images that inspire her such as dragonflies, flowers, butterflies, tiny deer, and other woodland creatures, but her true muse is Valerie Lukyanova, the 21-year-old who sparked controversy in the spring by using plastic surgery and photo retouching to become a real-life Barbie.

Both young women live in Odessa, and according to images posted on VK, they appear to be close friends. Lukyanova claims to be the most famous woman on the Russian Internet, but Shpagina may have overtaken her. More than 800,000 people have viewed her YouTube Flower Fairy Tutorial.

How to Read Faces

Brushing Hair Off Your Face

This movement, a combination of nerves and flirtation, helps call attention to and frame your feminine assets (think face and neck). No wonder it's a staple of a promising date.

Botox be damned! The only real smile, says Anita Barbee, a professor of social work at the University of Louisville, in Kentucky, is one in which eye muscles are engaged. People who grin for more than five seconds and only with their lips can be faking it. Frequent smiling in the workplace can make a person seem less serious.

The normal blink rate is six to eight times a minute. But under stress, you'll blink more often and somewhat more dramatically. Want to know who's freaking out and who's as cool as a cucumber at the next big meeting? The eyes have it.

Weird and Extreme / The Walking Dead Live in Indonesia

Walking Corpse Ritual in Tanah Toraja! (Indonesia)

If you are a fan of the hit TV series The Walking Dead, then I’ve got news for you.

There is a place in Indonesia where certain people can make the dead walk again. The village of Toraja has a bizarre ritual in which the dead are supposedly resurrected as zombies.

the-walking-dead1 - Show Posts - Lollapalooza

It is said that the cave in the village  Sillanang since 1905 has been found in human bodies intact, do not decay until now. Uniquely bodies are not embalmed like the Ancient Egyptians was not even given any potions.

In times past, when the villages of Tana Toraja were still extremely isolated and difficult to visit, it is said that certain people had the power to make a dead man walk to his village in order to be present at his own funeral. In this way, relatives of the deceased were spared the necessity of having to carry his corpse. One particular area, Mamasa ? West Toraja, was particularly well-known for this practice. The people of this area are not strictly speaking of the same ethnic group as the people of Tana Toraja. However, outsiders often refer to them as Toraja Mamasa. In many ways, the cultures of the two groups are similar, although they each have their own distingushing characteristics. In particular, the style of wood carving of the two groups is different.

According to the belief system of the people of Mamasa, the spirit of a dead person must return to his village of origin. It is essential that he meet with his relatives, so that they can guide him on his journey into the after-life after the ceremonies have been completed. In the past, people of this area were frightened to journey far, in case they died while they were away and were unable to return to their village. If someone died while on a journey, and unless he has a strong magic power, it would be necessary to procure the services of an expert, to guide the dead person back to the village.

Cleansing properties clean kidneys up and lessens accumulation of toxins in the blood, thereby decreasing their concentration in the kidneys. Its disinfectant properties protect the kidneys from any infections too. Thus it is good for overall health of the kidneys.

Skin Disorders: Vitamin-C, phosphorus, zinc and some members of vitamin-B complex, which are present in radish, are good for skin. The water in it helps maintaining moisture of the skin. Smashed raw radish is a very good cleanser and serves as a very efficient face pack. Due to its disinfectant properties, radish also helps cure skin disorders, such as drying up, rashes, cracks etc. and also refreshes it.

Insect Bites: It has anti pruritic properties and can be used as an effective treatment for insect bites, stings of bees, hornets, wasps etc. Its juice also reduces pain and swelling and soothes the affected area.

John Unger with Schoep in Lake Superior (Hannah Stonehouse Hudson/

A photograph of a man wading in Lake Superior with his 19-year-old arthritic dog captured the hearts of millions when it was posted online last month--an outpouring that inspired the dog's owner to launch a foundation to help low-income families care for their aging canines.

John Unger says Schoep's Legacy Foundation has raised more than $25,000 since Unger and his dog, Schoep, were photographed by a friend, who posted the image to Facebook.

Before the photo was taken, Unger and his veterinarian had been considering putting Schoep down.

"Without treatment, John and I were talking about euthanasia at the end of July," Erik Haukass, the vet, told the Daily Mail. But through the unsolicited donations from people who saw the photo, Unger was able to treat Schoep and extend his life.

"Schoep is doing incredible right now," Unger said. 'The therapies that the people have donated--it's like turning back the clock a year and a half."

The foundation was created, Haukass added, when the pair "realized we had received more money than we would reasonably spend on Schoep's care."

"It could help another 30 or 40 Schoeps," Haukass said.

The "Official Fan Page of Schoep and John" has more than 20,000 "likes," and Hudson has been selling prints of the photo to benefit the cause.

"This 19-year-old [Schoep is] being cradled in his father's arms last night in Lake Superior," Hannah Stonehouse Hudson, the photographer, wrote in the Facebook post that sparked the outpouring. "Schoep falls asleep every night when he is carried into the lake. The buoyancy of the water soothes his arthritic bones. Lake Superior is very warm right now, so the temperature of the water is perfect. I was so happy I got to capture this moment for John. By the way, John rescued Schoep as an 8-month-old puppy, and he's been by his side through many adventures."

Hudson, a professional photographer, told the Pioneer Press that business is booming since the photo of Unger and Schoep was published--so much so that she recently hired her first employee plus an intern.
"I would say a 30 percent increase in shoots," Hudson said. "Who knew a favor to a friend would turn into this? It's completely surreal."

Because of the public's generosity, Schoep has been getting expensive joint laser treatments to reduce pain and swelling related to arthritis.

"He's walking so much faster," the 49-year-old Unger said. "It's unbelievable."

SARS-type virus prompts PHL advisory for Pinoys in Saudi Arabia, Qatar

Filipinos in Saudi Arabia and Qatar and those who are planning to go there have been warned of a new virus similar to one causing Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome.

Doctors at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Quarantine section issued an advisory on September 25 to spread awareness about the virus, a medical official at the NAIA said.

The advisory came after reports from the World Health Organization (WHO) about the discovery of a SARS-type flu strain in the United Kingdom.

SARS is a severe respiratory illness that is caused by a coronavirus (species Severe acute respiratory syndrome virus of the genus Coronavirus), is transmitted especially by contact with infectious material (as respiratory droplets or body fluids), and is characterized by fever, headache, body aches, a dry cough, hypoxia, and usually pneumonia.

A reuters report said SARS appeared in China in 2002 and infected more than 8,000 people around the world, killing around 800 of them before being brought under control.

Doctor Ali Salvador Agama from the NAIA Terminal 1 Quarantine section told GMA News Online on Wednesday that the virus is still not fully identified.

“Right now, we cannot define its specific characteristics,” he said, adding that symptoms are similar to SARS' with "other arising problems."

“Symptoms include difficulty in breathing just like with SARS' but what’s peculiar now is that we have observed kidney problems in the infected people,” he said.

To prevent contracting the disease, he advised people especially overseas Filipino workers in Saudi Arabia and Qatar to:
Wash their hands regularly
Boost their immune system through a good diet
Cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze

The estimated number of Filipinos in Qatar and Saudi Arabia based on data from the Commission of Overseas Filipinos are:
Qatar - 305,331
Saudi Arabia - 1,512,539

Most recent case

The latest victim of the virus is a 49-year old Qatari man who was first diagnosed to have acute respiratory syndrome.

According an update on the WHO site, the condition was discovered on September 22, while the man was in the United Kingdom.

It said the man showed symptoms on September 3. Further background investigation showed he had traveled to Saudi Arabia. He was admitted in the intensive care unit at a hospital in Doha, Qatar on September 7, and was transferred to the UK via air ambulance on September 11.

Identity match 99.5%

Meanwhile, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) in the UK did laboratory tests confirming there was a novel coronavirus present in the man’s body.

The WHO report said doctors discovered a 99.5-percent compatibility with the sample from the Qatari man to a previous sample from a 60-year-old Saudi man who died earlier this year.

Even with the 99.5% match, the novel coronavirus is said to be ‘very different’ from SARS according to the WHO report.

The WHO, however, is currently doing its best to characterize the novel coronavirus with its six regions coordinating to immediately respond to any future cases. — LBG, GMA News

One morning at a doctor's surgery a patient arrives complaining of serious back-pain. The doctor examines him and asks him" OK, what happened to your back?"

The patient replies "You know that I work for a local night club? This
morning I got home to my apartment early and heard a noise in my bedroom. On entering I knew someone had been with my wife and the balcony door was open. I rushed out the balcony door and did not find anyone. As I looked down from the balcony I saw a man running out and he was dressing himself.I grabbed the fridge and threw it at him, That’s how I strained my back"

The 2nd patient arrives looking as if he has been in a car wreck. The
doctor said "My previous patient looked bad, but you look terrible. What the hell happened to you?"

He replied, "You know I have been unemployed for a while now .Today was the first day at my new job. I forgot to set my alarm and was running late. I was running out of the building, getting dressed at the same time, and you won't believe it but I was hit by a fridge."

The 3rd patient arrives; he looks even worse than the other two Patients do..
The doctor is shocked. Again asks, "What the hell happened
to youuuuuu.....?"

"Well I was sitting in a fridge & someone threw it from the 3rd floor"

"A Whiter Shade Of Pale"

We skipped the light fandango
Turned cartwheels 'cross the floor
I was feeling kind of seasick
The crowd called out for more
And the room was hummin' harder
As the ceiling flew away
And when we called outfor another drink
But the waiter brought a tray

And so it was later
As the miller told his tale
That her face at first just ghostly
Turned a whiter shade of pale.

She said: "There is no reason,
And the truth is plain to see."
But I wander through my playin' cards
Would not let her be
One of the sixteen vestal virgins
Who were leaving for the coast
And although my eyes were open
They might just as well been closed

And so it was later
As the miller told his tale
That her face at first just ghostly
Turned a whiter shade of pale.
A whiter shade of pale
Turned a whiter shade of pale
A whiter shade of pale
