Dosage of hope in a song.

"So gather moments while you may
Collect the dreams you dream today
Remember, will you remember
The times of your life"

Times Of Your Life
PAUL ANKA

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4CIBHLPjBI

Good morning, yesterday
You wake up and time has slipped away
And suddenly it's hard to find
The memories you left behind
Remember, do you remember

The laughter and the tears
The shadows of misty yesteryears
The good times and the bad you've seen
And all the others in between
Remember, do you remember
The times of your life (do you remember)

Reach back for the joy and the sorrow
Put them away in your mind
The mem'ries are time that you borrow
To spend when you get to tomorrow

Here comes the saddest part (comes the saddest part)
The seasons are passing one by one
So gather moments while you may
Collect the dreams you dream today
Remember, will you remember
The times of your life

Gather moments while you may
Collect the dreams you dream today
Remember, will you remember
The times of your life
Of your life
Of your life

Do you remember, baby
Do you remember the times of your life
Do you remember, baby
Do you remember the times of your life

Sports and Fitness / Golf -> The President's cup

SAN FRANCISCO -- His only bogey was the celebration. Tiger Woods rolled in his winning birdie putt, removed his cap to shake hands with opponent Y.E Yang, then soberly moved on. Take away the uniforms and the world No. 1 could have been wrapping up a Wednesday pro-am.

At that point, Woods didn't grasp the signficance: his win was the clinching point. The Presidents Cup was the Americans' for the third consecutive time. Even when U.S. captain Fred Couples unleashed a celebratory uppercut while walking toward his star player, the moment seemed to pass Woods by.

"I said, 'You won the point,'" Couples clarified to Woods later behind the 13th green, in the revelry that followed his 6-and-5 win.

"I thought you said I won MY point," Woods responded.

"No," Couples said. "I said you won THE point."

So there's the drawback to winning five points in one week at the Presidents Cup. After a while, it's hard to keep track of them all.

Happy weekend everyone.

Three women die together in an accident and go to heaven. When they get there, St. Peter says, “We only have one rule here: Don’t step on the ducks!” They enter heaven, and sure enough, there are ducks all over the place. It’s almost impossible not to step on them. Although they try their best to avoid them, the first woman accidentally steps on one. Along comes St. Peter with the ugliest man she’s ever seen. St. Peter chains them together and says: “Your punishment is to spend eternity chained to this man!” The next day, the second woman makes the same mistake and along comes St. Peter with another extremely ugly man.

He chains them together with the same admonishment. The third woman has observed all this and, not wanting to be chained for all eternity to an ugly man, becomes very careful where she steps. She manages to go months without stepping on any duck, but one day, St. Peter comes up to her with the most handsome man she has ever laid her eyes on—tall, long eyelashes, muscular. St. Peter chains them together without saying a word. The happy woman says, “I wonder what I’ve done to deserve being chained to you?” The guy says, “I don’t know about you, but I stepped on a duck!”

Sports and Fitness / PBA team exec killed by raging waters

By Nelson Beltran (The Philippine Star) Updated September 28, 2009 12:00 AM

MANILA, Philippines - Tony Chua, the top official of the Barako Bull ball club who had served as chairman of the PBA board of governors, died in an accident at the height of tropical storm “Ondoy” Saturday.

Reports said Chua drowned after he was hit by a piece of wood while clinging to a tree at the height of the typhoon. His body was found yesterday morning.

Helpless

PBA assistant coach Koy Banal witnessed how Tony Chua met his tragic fate, killed by cascading water spawned by Ondoy.

The Banals and the Chuas both live in Filinvest subdivision on Marcos Highway, Antipolo.

Banal was helpless as he clung to a tree when he saw a man being rescued but lost his grip on a nylon cord before a rescuer could get hold of him.

“Koy was hysterical and shouting on the phone when he learned that it was Mr. Chua,” said Purefoods coach Ryan Gregorio in a text message.

According to Gregorio, Banal held on to a tree at the height of Ondoy’s rage up to 4:30 a.m. yesterday.

The Philippines have long been known as both a very humble, and extremely sacred nation, led by many who only remain afloat by virtue of their own blood, sweat, and tears. Having such a strong penchant for spirituality, the quest to rise above all else not only serves as a way to help the common man, but in the end, also a way to honor him.

With such an honorary background and a work ethic to support it, there's no question as to why or how the land of the Philippines recently witnessed the emergence of a few star pupils. In America, Basketball has Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. Golf has Tiger Woods. But as great as those men are, few can argue they are little more than the face of their respective sports.

Manny Pacquiao checks out the cockpit of the Gulfstream jet during their flight from San Francisco to Los Angeles.  Abac Cordero / Philstar.com

LOS ANGELES – Without really looking ahead of the Miguel Cotto fight, Manny Pacquiao yesterday said what seems to be his inevitable dream fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. is looming on the horizon.

Once the fight pushes through, Pacquiao could earn from $25 million to $30 million or roughly P1.5 billion.

But Pacquiao said it would all depend on the outcome of his fight with Cotto, the reigning WBO welterweight champion, in November, and Mayweather’s own match with Juan Manuel Marquez on Saturday.

Both Pacquiao and Mayweather are favored to prevail, and should no one spoil the fun, they could end up facing each other for what could be the fight of the decade or even greater than that, later next year.

“Kapag nanalo kami pareho ni Mayweather, kami na yan (If me and Mayweather prevail, then it should be us),” said Pacquiao on board the Gulfstream G200 eight-seater plane that took him out of San Francisco.

“Nag-uusap na. Basta. Nag-uusap na (Talks are on),” said Pacquiao who was joined in the 50-minute flight to Burbank in LA by trainer Freddie Roach, top-ranked publicist Fred Sternburg, Mike Koncz, Geng Gacal and Roger Fernandez.

Cotto took a separate plane, a private one as well, to Los Angeles and was joined by his father, Miguel Sr., lawyer Gabriel Penagaricano, coach Phil Landman, Top Rank big boss Bob Arum and his dynamic duo of Lee Samuels and Ricardo Jimenez.

Arum said Pacquiao stands to earn as much as $20 million for the Cotto fight, and while he has yet to confirm that there are indeed talks with the Mayweather camp, he’d rather have Pacquiao focusing on the coming fight.

At the AT&T Park in San Francisco earlier in the day, Pacquiao and Cotto came to watch the San Francisco Giants clobber the LA Dodgers, and for the fourth straight day the two boxers stood close to one another.

They were together up inside a VIP box, enjoying some cold drinks and hotdogs. They seem to like each other’s company but when they part in a couple of days, they should start training, thinking of ways how to beat each other.

After the match, played before a sell-out crowd of 40,000, Pacquiao and Cotto took over, holding a conference just off the Giants dugout, in front of some 3,000 fans who came to see the two world champions in the flesh, and not necessarily the ballgame.

A cold afternoon drizzle was not enough to shoo the crowd away as Pacquiao, Cotto and Arum fielded questions from the media and some of the fans, which occupied eight sections of the lower stands, as well.

Pacquiao hardly talked about his plans for the fight, and instead invited the fans to come to Las Vegas in November because “I’m going to hold a concert at Mandalay Bay after the fight.”

Cotto was bolder this time, saying he’d train as hard as he can because “it’s going to be war” out there at the MGM Grand.

Pacquiao played basketball with friends in San Francisco at noon before leaving for LA.

From the airport, Pacquiao was taken straight to his $2 million home at the plush Hancock Park, took some rest and enjoyed dinner of grilled angus beef and steamed rice.

Roach was asked about Pacquiao’s training, and said they will be ready to go 12 rounds against Cotto. But boxing’s hottest trainer today may have something else in mind when he said training will be held in “Boracay.”

He was quick in making the correction that it should be Baguio. Later on, before boarding the private plane, he had a good laugh about having mentioned Boracay, which he fondly remembers as the island paradise in the Philippines.

Notes: Tickets to the Manny Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto “Firepower” in November are moving so fast that it you still don’t have one, chances are you’d end up watching the fight on pay-per-view or closed circuit or buying one for an incredible price on the black market. Of the close to 17,000 seats at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, only a few hundreds are left, those pegged at $1,000 and $750. “The $300s are gone,” said Top Rank’s Ricardo Jimenez. The tickets to the Pacquiao-Cotto fight are doing so great that Ringside A, Row A seats, where the stars belong, are being peddled on the Internet for $8,645 each or roughly P414,960, probably equivalent to a year’s salary of a bank manager in Manila. “It just shows how big this fight is and how the fans are looking forward to it,” said Pacquiao’s adviser, Mike Koncz. “For some fights, hotels in Las Vegas are on a discounted price, but for this fight, for Pacquiao fights, they’re jacking them up,” he said.

Another lazy monday ...  :-[
+-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+

A MAN ESCAPES FROM PRISON WHERE HE'S BEEN LOCKED UP FOR 15YRS.

HE BREAKS INTO A HOUSE TO LOOK FOR MONEY AND GUNS. INSIDE, HE FINDS A YOUNG COUPLE IN BED. HE ORDERS THE GUY OUT OF THE BED AND HE TIES HIM TO A CHAIR.

WHILE TYING THE HOMEOWNER'S WIFE TO THE BED, THE CONVICT GETS ON TOP OF HER, KISSES HER NECK, THEN GETS UP AND GOES TO THE BATHROOM.

WHILE HE IS IN THERE, THE HUSBAND WHISPERS OVER TO HIS WIFE: "LISTEN, THIS GUY IS AN ESCAPED CONVICT. LOOK AT HIS CLOTHES! HE HAS PROBABLY SPENT A LOT OF TIME  IN JAIL AND HASN'T SEEN A WOMAN IN YEARS. I SAW HOW HE KISSED YOUR NECK. IF HE WANTS SEX, DON'T RESIST, DON'T COMPLAIN...DO WHATEVER HE TELLS YOU.  SATISFY HIM NO MATTER HOW MUCH HE NAUSEATES YOU. THIS GUY IS OBVIOUSLY VERY DANGEROUS. IF HE GETS ANGRY, HE COULD KILL US BOTH. BE STRONG, HONEY. "I LOVE YOU!"

HIS WIFE RESPONDS: "HE WASN'T KISSING MY NECK. HE WAS WHISPERING IN MY EAR.

HE TOLD ME THAT HE'S GAY, THINKS YOU'RE CUTE, AND ASKED IF WE HAD ANY VASELINE. I TOLD HIM IT WAS IN THE BATHROOM.

BE STRONG HONEY. "I LOVE YOU TOO!"

It may have a fairy tale ending -- a story of perseverance and second chances that's playing out live on the public stage of online networking.

But 24-year-old Brianna Karp's story started as a nightmare. Brianna Karp's trailer now sits outside a friend's home near Los Angeles.

In a rocky economy, Karp was laid off from her Irvine, California, job as an executive assistant in July 2008.

She got by for a while on temp jobs and unemployment benefits. But when her savings dried up, she was no longer able to afford her rent.

The only answer she saw then was a trailer she'd inherited from her father -- a man she barely knew who had recently committed suicide.

"I was left with a truck and this camper, which I was going to sell but coincidentally this happened to me," she said. "I thought, 'Well, I have this.' "

Karp, who writes that she is also estranged from her mother, ended up camped in a Los Angeles-area Walmart parking lot.

"The first night, I think, in the Walmart parking lot was the scariest," she told CNN. "I was panicking, and I was just afraid."

For comfort, she had her mastiff named Fezzik. And she had her laptop computer.

As she spent five months looking for jobs and blasting out resumes, often spending hour after hour at a coffee shop to take advantage of its free Wi-Fi connection, she also started blogging. The result, the Girl's Guide to Homelessness, chronicled the ups and downs of her new life.

She reminisced about adopting her dog, named for a character from the movie "The Princess Bride," and mulled the pros and cons of having a pet while homeless. She recounted details from failed job interviews and offered tips for other homeless women.

"I was trying to stay positive and cheerful," Karp said. "I started writing the blog in a tongue-in-cheek way to kind of laugh about my circumstances, keep them chronicled. I didn't think anyone would actually read it."  Watch CNN's Ted Rowland's report on Brianna. »

But people did, including Matt Barnes, formerly homeless himself and running a Web site about his own homelessness issues in Scotland.

He asked her to write for his site and would eventually become Brianna's boyfriend.

Another big break came through a shot at the weird world of reality television.

Karp applied for a show that would offer contestants the chance at a job with Elle magazine advice columnist E. Jean Carroll.

She was granted an audition for the show and, by her own account, totally botched it.

"I went back and blogged about bombing the interview and made fun of myself," she said.

On a lark, she then wrote to Carroll via her column.

"Dear E. Jean: I'm currently homeless and living in a Wal-Mart parking lot," her e-mail began. "I'm educated, I have never done drugs and I'm not mentally ill. I have a strong employment history and am a career executive assistant. The instability sucks, but I'm rocking it as best as I can."

She told Carroll about her poor interview for the show and finished the note with the question, "How does one get another shot when one screws up a job interview? -- Homeless, but Not Hopeless."

Carroll said she was floored by the note.

"[The phrase] 'I'm living in a Walmart parking lot' hooked me," she said. "I thought, she's so ready to work, obviously she can write, she's got some skills."

Her response appeared in the August issue of Elle -- she offered Karp an internship and a chance to write a fashion blog for the magazine.

"I think she's a new voice," Carroll said. "She's a voice we haven't heard, and I'm excited for her future."

Not that all of her troubles were instantly over. Last month, she wrote, Walmart finally had her trailer towed, and she has now parked her mobile home at a friend's house outside Los Angeles.

She's also still seeking that elusive full-time job, while hoping her newfound high profile will help spread the word about homelessness, and how it can happen to the most unlikely people.

"If you saw me walking down the street, you wouldn't assume I live in a parking lot," she writes on the blog. "In short, I am just like you, except without the convenience of a permanent address."

(CNN) -- A Wisconsin judge ruled there is enough evidence for four women to stand trial for their roles in a staged motel tryst that ended with a man tied to a bed, his penis super-glued to his stomach, a lawyer for one of the women said Wednesday.

Michelle Belliveau, Wendy Sewell, Therese Ziemann and the man's wife appeared in court Tuesday.

A Calumet County Circuit Court Judge issued the ruling Tuesday after hearing from the alleged victim, who spent about 90 minutes on the witness stand describing his ordeal, attorney Rob Bellin said.

The 37-year-old man, who is in custody on charges in an unrelated case, delivered his testimony wearing an orange jailhouse jumpsuit.

"I was telling them they couldn't do this, that it's assault. Hello, let me leave," the alleged victim said, according to CNN affiliate WBAY.

The man's wife and two of his girlfriends hatched a plot to lure him to a Stockbridge motel on July 30 and confront him after learning that he was having "sexual relations" with all of them, a criminal complaint states.

Therese Ziemann, Wendy Sewell, Michelle Belliveau and the man's wife are accused of felony false imprisonment, which carries a maximum penalty of six years in prison.

Ziemann, who is also accused of misdemeanor sexual assault and battery, faces arraignment on October 5. Belliveau pleaded not guilty on Tuesday, and the others have motion hearings scheduled in October.

CNN does not name victims of alleged sexual assault and will not name the alleged victim's wife since they use the same last name.

Ziemann told investigators that her lover's wife contacted her the day before the incident and revealed that he was married with children and seeing other women for money. Ziemann said she confirmed the information with Sewell, and the three arranged to confront him "without him knowing," the complaint says.

Belliveau, Ziemann's sister, was allegedly also present.

The man went to the hotel on July 30 to meet Ziemann, who told investigators that she met him on Craigslist and fell in love, paying for their hotel rooms and lending him $3,000, the complaint says.

The alleged victim told police that when he arrived, Ziemann told him she wanted to "tie him up and give him a rub down." She used bed sheets to tie him to the bed, and blindfolded him with a pillowcase before cutting off his underwear with scissors, according to the complaint.

She then texted the other women to let them know "he's tied up."

After they arrived, they peppered him with questions like, "which do you love more?" and "who do you want to grow old with?"

Ziemann told police she slapped her lover and asked "can you handle that?" before using Krazy Glue to stick his penis to his stomach.

The man told police that the women took his wallet, cell phone and car and left him tied to the bed. He chewed on the bindings to free himself and eventually called police.

The man, who has a criminal record in Wisconsin dating back to 1998, is in custody on unrelated charges of child abuse, theft and harassment. His next court appearance in that case is scheduled for Thursday.

Ellen DeGeneres replaces Paula Abdul as ‘American Idol’ judge
Posted: 10:13 PM ET
By Alan Duke
CNN

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) — “American Idol” has signed talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres as a fourth judge for its next season, the show’s producers said.

The 51-year-old comedienne will fill the chair left empty by Paula Abdul’s recent departure when the singing competition resumes for a ninth year in January, creator and executive producer Simon Fuller said.

Adbul left the show after eight years as a judge when she was unable to agree on a new contract.

DeGeneres said she’s been a “huge fan” of “American Idol” for many years. “So getting this job is a dream come true, and think of all the money I’ll save from not having to text in my vote,” she said.

DeGeneres, who will continue to host her syndicated daily talk show, will “bring a unique human touch to our judging panel,” Fuller said.

She gained fame first with a stand-up comedy act and then with acting roles in several movies and TV sitcoms. DeGeneres has also hosted the primetime Emmys and the Academy Awards.

–CNN’s Jack Hannah contributed to this report.
