Technology / Re: Windows 8
« on: October 05, 2012, 05:16:05 PM »
Running on windows8 on my netbook (iCore3 - 4Gb Memory) and so far so good especially sa performance... though wala pa nako gi-load ang mga applicaitons except for office2012.

Good feature (at least for me) is the virtualization with Hyper-V pero i need to tinker a bit para mo-support sa akoa netbook hardware.  :-\

Hardware and Gadgets / Re: How to Set Up Your Home Theater System
« on: September 20, 2012, 02:41:55 PM »
Share lang ko  ;D -- ayaw ko labaya ug bato ha...  :'(

Para ma-complete ang home theater system ninyo, try mo ug install ug media server (pwde ra gani sa laptop or karaan nga PC). For those maka-afford, pwde ug media appliance ang paliton like (d-link d323 NAS ug ug uban nga mga media devices).

* media server (Serviio - - PC or Laptop
* TV nga internet ready - pwde pud computers
* networking tools (switch/router, cables) for the interconnection

** Features
- streams audio, video (SD & HD) and image files in their native format or transcoded in real-time
- streams content from online sources, like RSS feeds, live audio/video streams, web page content
- includes a plugin system to support streaming from non-trivial online sources
- available for Windows, Linux and Mac (with the possibility to run the server part on one platform and console on another)
- ug uban pa

Supported renderers:
* Sony Bravia (Tested)
* Samsung TV and bluray
* Philips TV
* Xbox 360 (Tested)
* ug uban pa

Bottom line, as long as you're connected sa imong home network pwde ka motan-aw ug movies via sa imong streaming server. You can even setup your own netflix-like services from your own network pero lahi na pud ni nga topic.

Technology / Re: Never Use Internet Explorer
« on: March 24, 2011, 10:50:53 AM »

sucks because its coming from micro$oft... :)

kidding aside, daghan baya sad ug maayo nga feature ang IE but since its a closed-source application then you never knw what's inside and what are these updates doing sa imong system. for my personal point of view, i feel secured when i knw what services are running on my system even without much powerful antivirus at least i can still get rid those untrusted processes running.

Sir, personally this will depend on which environment ang imong setting. For an enterprise, ma-minimize ra ang risk due to enterprise protection solutions in place but for home use then magdepende na sa user unsaon niya pag-hardened ang iyang system... ;) pero still higher ang risk sa home compare nimo to a company setup.

Technology / Re: XP vs Windows 7
« on: March 18, 2011, 05:39:19 PM »

i wonder which one is faster winXP or win7 on a Pentium2 PC... ok let's make it Pentium4?  ;D

need to consider other things like, what kind of hardware, what purpose, security, application installed and other things... maybe for a "short term" kind of solution i'd go for winXP (no patch needed, old applications, for office documents only) but if you plan to support new applications, want to be secured then go for win7 as most of the apps are develop and tested for this and micro$oft doesn't support winXP anymore. *sigh* too bad for my old lappy.

just my 2 cents worth of ideas...  ;)

Hi Kiams, using firefox 3.6.15 here, “search keys” is also applicable in the address bar so you may switch to FF if you like. :D

README: Chrome Privacy

I agree that Chrome is a fast browser but my concern is my privacy… its enough for me to share my gcalendar, gmail, footprints, flickr, youtube (and others?) to Google since I’m using android phone and google’s search engine but not to the point of giving away my system info and my browsing behavior to them.

Yeah, I agree. You may also try using “vacuum places” – this addon will fragment your sqlite database to boost your firefox. If you're techie enough, you can also tweak your firefox settings and I think I saw Mike’s post about the FF tweak somewhere in TB.

By the way, agree to Mike -- no to IE… security sucks…

Mostly reseller/distributor/repair centre so i can assure you about the authenticity. If makapaabot pa ka around Feb/March 2011 i think mao na ang sched for the next IT show, daghan pa ka mga freebies makuha.

Below are the shops mostly akoa kuhaan ug mga items:

Funan 3rd Floor
Funan 6th Floor

Note: dili ni sya paid ads ha.  ::) hinoon member ko sa 3 ka shops with discounted price.

cheapest kung cheap -- adto lang sa simlim square pero adto lang palit sa mga shops nga dagko aron medyo safe ka gamay sa imong mapalit. Daghan man gud ngari mga gipang-ayo na nga mga products, or ingon "sila" naa sad daw mga fakes (made in tsina) ngari so careful lang then i-check jud ug sakto ang item before nimo paliton.

if ganahan ka ug mga latest gadgets, timing lang ang mga major IT Show (4x in a year) -- gahapon pa jud nahuman ang sale sa Sitex.

For me, adto ko palit sa Funan Mall at least naa ko peace of mind for the after sales support.
