Philippine Daily News / "Filipino" vs. "Boholano/Cebuano/etc..."
« on: November 26, 2008, 01:52:53 AM »
So I was clicking through my YouTube videos when I realized there was someone on one of my videos that was stirring a debate whether "Filipinos" is the correct term for associating all people who were born & raised in the Philippines. What sparked my curiosity the most was the fact that this guy was claiming he was a "Cebuano" as opposed to a "Filipino" due to personal conflicts he had with his government.

So, out of curiousity ... what would you consider yourself to be? A Filipino, a Cebuano/or person from whatever specific town/barrio, or both?

I just bought a Pearlscale goldfish yesterday. ;D Supposedly, these things can grow up to the size of a baseball! I hope they grow slow because I just have a 10 gallon tank right now.  :-[

I used to have a Betta fish that lived a REALLY long time, but the first one died when I was in the Philippines and the second one died within two years.  :'(

Any suggestions for names for this one? Right now, I'm just calling him Mr. Fishie... lol

;D During my finals week, I found both of the FREE mp3 samples to be very useful!

From the website:

It also helps you increase energy levels during the day with unique power naps or performance breaks.

Youtube Replay / My high school choir's performance of "Rosas Pandan"
« on: November 24, 2007, 05:30:04 PM »
haha my cousin, Ate Grazie, has been begging me to post this...

This was the Christian Brother High School honors choir I was in last year. We sang Rosas Pandan at a Catholic high school festival, and it was really fun to learn and sing. I had to help a bit with the pronunciation.  ;D Everyone sounded pretty good for just three filipinos in the choir. haha. It's already been viewed over 8000+ times, but it's definitely worth checking out! :)

knifeattacknational175xde5 - Show Posts - smiffytheninja

A teenager has told of how his knife-proof hoodie saved his life when he was attacked by muggers.

The 15-year-old victim was slashed more than 20 times across his back and arms when he was targeted by two men at a cash machine.

Speaking under the the pseudonym of John Cook, he said: 'I thought the mugger was hitting me at first, but then I saw the blood on my hands.

'When I got home, I saw there were loads of knife marks on the hoodie. I would have been cut up if I hadn't been wearing it.'

The trendy black Kevlar hoodies are made from stab-and-fire resistant material used in body armour worn by British troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The jackets, which hit the shops earlier this year, were designed by a company in Romford, Essex, to protect teens from growing knife attacks on Britain's streets.

But John said: 'I knew about knife crime before but it had never affected me so I wasn't too worried about it.

'I only bought the jacket because I liked the look of it.'

Since the attack in Bethnal Green, East London, the teenager and his new £65 hoodie have been inseparable – and he has persuaded lots of his friends to splash out on one, too.

The hoodies have also proved a hit with female joggers and dog walkers – prompting makers Bladerunner to bring them out in baby blue and pink.

This is pretty cool, but you're going to have to dish out $130 USD.  ;)

Music and Video / College Students = Free Music?!?!?
« on: November 10, 2007, 04:35:06 AM »
My college is advertising all around campus a free music site (just for listening on certain mp3 players, but no burning). It's pretty legit and you guys should check it out if you're college students :)

(Not sure if it works w/ international college addresses) But I think all you need is a .edu email address and you should be fine! :)

check it out! I got one of Lea Salonga's songs :)

Jokes and Humor / Entrance Exam to Heaven
« on: November 02, 2007, 11:37:47 AM »
I was taking my Philosophy midterm and this was one of the passages on there  ;D

For all those who need a good laugh :)

The day finally arrived: Forrest Gump dies and goes to Heaven.

He is met at the Pearly Gates by Saint Peter himself. The gates are closed, however, and Forrest approaches the gatekeeper.

Saint Peter says, "Well, Forrest, it's certainly good to see you. We have heard a lot about you. I must inform you that the place is filling up fast, and we've been administering an entrance exam for everyone. The tests are fairly short, but you need to pass before you can get into Heaven."

Forrest responds, "It shore is good to be here, Saint Peter. I was looking forward to this. Nobody ever told me about no entrance exams Shore hope the test ain't too hard; life was a big enough test as it was."

Saint Peter goes on, "Yes, I know Forrest. But, the test I have has only two questions. Here is the first: What days of the week begin with the letter 'T'? Second, how many seconds are there in a year?

Forrest goes away to think the questions over. He returns the next day and goes up to Saint Peter to try to answer the exam questions.

Saint Peter waves him up and asks, "Now that you have had a chance to think the questions over, tell me your answers."

Forrest says, "Well, the first one, how many days of the week begin with the letter 'T'? Shucks, that one's easy; that'd be Today and Tomorrow.

The saint's eyes opened wide and he exclaims, "Forrest! That's not what I was thinking, but... you do have a point though, and I guess I didn't specify, so I give you credit for that answer." "How about the next one?" says Saint Peter, "How many seconds in a year?"

"Now that one's harder," says Forrest. "But, I thunk and thunk about that, and I guess the only answer can be twelve."

Astounded, Saint Peter says, "Twelve! Twelve! Forrest, how could you come up with twelve seconds in a year?"

Forrest says, "Shucks, there gotta be twelve: January second, February second, March second......."

"Hold it," interrupts Saint Peter. "I see where you're going with it. And I guess I see your point, though that wasn't quite what I had in mind. I'll give you credit for that one too. Come on in."
