Lucerne Festival Ark Nova used tsunami-damaged cedar trees from the region as materials to create acoustic reflectors/boards and chairs in the Ark Nova hall. (ARK NOVA)

In a nod to the story of Noah's Ark, the project was named Ark Nova (new ark) with the hope that it will become a symbol of recovery after the great earthquake and tsunami disaster of 2011. (ARK NOVA)

The concert hall was created by Arata Isozaki and Anish Kapoor. An air-inflated membrane structure, it can be folded up with the interior equipment dismantled and loaded on a truck for traveling around the region. (ARK NOVA)
