Lynn Clay grabbed her camera to snap a frame of the floodwaters outside one of the windows in her office building at the Riverfront Plaza in Grand Rapids, Mich., and captured a little fish swimming by. She didn't even realize the fish was in the frame until she looked at it later and, as even the most seasoned photographer will admit, she said, "I got lucky!"

Clay told NBCNews.com she has never seen the Grand River this high before. "The water is usually only 18 inches to 2 feet deep outside the building, but now it's probably 20 feet deep. It's up over the walkways, the roads, and up the buildings to the windows."

2013 Cross-Strait Dragon Boat Race to be held on May 25th-26th in Xiamen

Xiamen is now gearing up to stage the 2013 Cross-Strait Dragon Boat Race on 25th May, which is scheduled to be held in Jimei Dragon Pool in the city to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the school and promote friendly relationships across the Straits.

According to the organizing committee, a total of 80 teams, which includes 37 teams from Xiamen, 15 teams from Taiwan, 2 teams from Hong Kong, and 1 teams from Macao, will compete in the dragon boat race this year.

The participants will be divided into 8 groups: Social Menâ€™s Group, Social Womenâ€™s Group, University Menâ€™s Group, University Womenâ€™s Group, Menâ€™s Group of Middle School & Technical High School Students, Womenâ€™s Group of Middle School & Technical High School Students, Female Teachersâ€™ Group, and Male Teachersâ€™ Group.
The dragon boat race in Jimei dates back to half a century ago. It is an important sports event organized by the General Administration of Sports of China.

Jimei is also the hometown of Mr. Tan Kah-Kee, the late Chinese philanthropist and a celebrated leader of overseas Chinese, who devoted himself entirely to the cause of education. A lot of educational institutions started by Mr. Tan Kah-Kee, including Jimei Kindergarten, Jimei Primary School and Jimei Middle School, are located here.

Hospital doctors in Ireland have discovered a surefire, low-cost way to distract a child admitted to emergency care: inflate a rubber glove, pop out its fingers in a spiky hairdo and draw a smiley face on it. Dr Eoin Fogarty of Dublin's Tallaght hospital created these two rubber glove puppets named Jedward (R) and Mohawk.
