How very beautiful, I like how the colors are able to mesh together in this one. It's almost like a rainbow-effect.

Good job on the light to dark contrast !

The Italian Garden..It was designed in the 1840's by Architect Daniel Robertson and took 100 men over 12 yeaRS to build!

800 years of History at Powerscourt
Where Powerscourt House stands today there was once a 13th century medieval castle, owned by the Le Power Family from which â€˜Powerscourtâ€™ takes its name. Powerful Irish families including the Oâ€™Tooles and the Fitzgeralds battled for possession of the castle and its lands over the succeeding centuries. In 1603 a new era began at Powerscourt, when Richard Wingfield was granted Powerscourt Castle and its lands as a reward for his military achievements by Queen Elizabeth. The story goes that Marshall Wingfield visited Queen Elizabeth after battle to pay his respects. The Queen said to him: â€œWell Sir Richard, what is to be your reward?â€ He bowed, and said â€œThe scarf that Your Majesty wears will be sufficient reward for me.â€ Upon which the Queen placed the scarf over his shoulder. In addition to the scarf, Richard was knighted and received Powerscourt Estate as his reward. His descendants were to remain at Powerscourt for over 350 years.

20th century fire and renovation
In 1961, the estate, was sold by the 9th Viscount, Mervyn Patrick Wingfield, to the Slazenger family, who still owns it to this day (2010). Wendy Slazenger, daughter of the late Ralph Slazenger, married the 10th Viscount, Mervyn Niall Wingfield, in 1962. Through her children, the Hon. Mervyn Anthony Wingfield and the Hon. Julia Wingfield, there remains a strong family connection between the two families and the Powerscourt Estate.
The house was destroyed by fire on 4 November 1974, while it was owned by the Slazenger family, and was subsequently renovated in 1996. Only two rooms are open to the public as they once appeared while Powerscourt had residents, while the rest of ground floor and first floor are now retail units.

My wife at the Rose Garden of Powerscourt..It is located at the walled gardens one of the oldest parts of the gardens and feature fascinating plants along ireland's largest herbaceous border.Here you can find 'Julia's memorial a calm,reflective pond built in honour of the 7th Viscount's mother.
