Is This the World's Most Perfect Dog?

By now, you’ve probably heard of the “Cava-poo-chon,†an adorable new breed of dog that’s taken the Internet by storm over the last few days. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Bichon Frisé/Miniature Poodle was bred on a farm in Pine, Arizona, with the help of a geneticist and a reproductive veterinarian, and has been called everything from “the ideal designer dog†to “the world’s most perfect puppy†for its youthful mug that miraculously won't ever show signs of age, along with its high intelligence and robust health.
The Cava-poo-chon is offered in two varieties: Curly and very curly. And with its fluffy, butterscotch coat, inky-black eyes, and “Who me?†expression, the 10-pound dog is clearly poised for world domination. As further proof, his asking price ranges from $2,000 to $3,500.
But is all the hype justified? After all, we’ve seen his look before — the Cava-poo-chon suspiciously resembles the Goldendoodle, an equally adorable Golden Retriever-Poodle hybrid, and the Maltipoo, a cutesy-wootsy Maltese-and-Poodle combo.
And plenty of other coveted, designer dogs have been around for years. There's the Puggle, a 30-pound Beagle-and-Pug mash-up originally born in Wisconsin; the Chorkie, a Yorkshire Terrier-and-Chihuahua crossbreed who loves children but hates being stared at; and the Bassetoodle, an oblong-shaped Basset Hound-Poodle mix with a stubborn streak. These guys are no less cute than the Cava-poo-chon, they just have bad PR campaigns.
And finally, the Cava-poo-chon may not even be legit. Both the American Kennel Club and the American Kennel Club don’t recognize the new type of dog as an official breed, and according to People, one expert even referred to the dog as a gimmick.
