It is answered in the bible, actually.
Here are just some passages that I found (note* there are probably more references, these are just the ones that I found):
"The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises."
-Ecclesiastes 1:5
Remark: In this excerpt, it is evident that the writers of the bible, despite their limited knowledge in the physics of the planets makes clear reference to the axial movement of the earth around the sun, and the 'setting' and 'rising' of the sun in this case is explained to us by the earth's rotation about its axis as it circumnavigates the solar system. What science explains to us in the present; was already explained and provided to us through the bible. In science, we can actually understand the Glories and Wondrous architecture of the Lord our God; who so made the Heavens and all the stars within and without.
"He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved."
-Psalm 104:5
Remark: It is evident that in this excerpt, the bible explained simply to those who were living in the time before the age of scientific discovery. However, this excerpt, in relation to the knowledge we have of today and the laws of physics, tells us about the spherical nature of the Earth. The world is round and within the core of the earth, like all the planets and stars that the Lord created in His vast universe, gravitational pull is a constant law. Gravity, will pull any mass towards the center; that is why the land is firm (without reference to tectonic plates; which in itself is relative to gravity and homeostasity of the earth), that is why trees are not uprooted and float to space; that is why we stay on land, that is why when we fall from high heights we shall therefore fall down. The foundation he has set, the gravitational laws, all the laws in physics were made and authored by him; it is only now that we can study or and uncover the the laws of physics, which were in constant motion and effect even before the Human Race came out of the earth.
"He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. "

Remark: Simply stated, yet it echoes the complexity of the heavens and the laws of motion; as what is provided to us by astronomy, physics, geochemistry, biology, chemistry etcetera, etcetera. This phrase makes it clear that the Lord sits above the circle that is the globe of earth; and this world is but one of the countless words that He has created in the Heavens. We are but one planet in this solar system within our local galaxy. The Lord has made billions upon billions upon billions (an unnumbered amount) of galaxies, which has countless amounts of solar systems within and without.
Who can deny the brilliance of the Lord, who can explain such complexity of his designs with such relative ease that even the simple-minded can understand and be humbled by the Brilliance of the Lord? This is afterall the same God that created our genetic chromosomes, which by its own right signifies and trumpets his unassailable brilliance!
It is the Lord God, with his brilliance and mastery that allows our genetic strands to be anti parallel so that there will be bi-directionality of the synthesis of DNA. It is HE who mandated and designed that there will be a 5 prime to 3 prime leading strand that will synthesize DNA with DNA polymerase I and there will be a 3 prime to 5 prime lagging strand that will join the templates vis-a-vis the DNA polymerase I. It was he that allows there to be TOW proteins to keep these strands together, allowing them to dimerize and thus allow the sequence of the Gamma complex to bind to the Beta-clamp which then allows the DNA polymerase I and DNA polymerase III to move up and down the strand to create new strands. The Lord God was so brilliant that he even knew that the Beta clamp will bind to the DNA polymerase, however he knew that if the beta clamp will not disassociate with the dna polymerase, the polymerase will not stop; so he designed the Gamma complex fragment, which binds with the beta clamp; and when this does, allows the beta clamp to disassociate with the DNA polymerase. With this system in motion, lagging strands can now be formed, but he also knows that the dNAG-Primase will keep the discountinous strands from forming, so thus he designed and formed the DNA ligase, a protein that will join the okizaki fragments (the lagging strands) and thus synthesis occurs. Yet the Lord knows that our nucleotides are prone to mutations, because of oxidative and amino-acid faults; that is why he made it sure that the DNA polymerase I and DNA polymerase III have an exonucleative activity that in the 3 prime to 5 prime direction, which is responsible for proofreading any mistakes in our base-pairs and any faults within the nucleotides of our genetic sequence. Without the presence of this 3' to 5' exonucleative capability, we would be prone to genetic mutanogenisis by 10,000 fold!! He allows the DNA to keep from touching each other because he designed the SSBps (Single stranded binding proteins), which aids the DNA Helicase in unwinding the duplex; which is in front of the Topoisomerase (Gyrase), which is responsible for releasing the superhelical coil and thus allowing the loosening of the DNA fragments. Thus it replicates!
HOW GREAT is the LORD GOD that he knew this! that he designed THIS! Eons, of eons of eons before even the rise of the first reptile, before the rise of the dinosaurs, the mammals and before the rise of man!!
Lord, HOW GREAT are you, with your brilliance!!Who can deny the existence of God? He makes himself PRESENT everyday, every moment, every second, every billionth of a second when your genetic codes are being replicated non-stop!
