« on: May 27, 2013, 07:09:03 AM »

Staff Sgt. Carlito Englatiera from Philippine Marine Battalion Landing Team 5, demonstrates the effectiveness of the blade and its usefulness in the age of technology. The blade he is holding is called a Ginunting from the Filipino word meaning scissors. It is carried by many of the Filipino Recon Marines. The hand-to-hand training is part Exercise Balikatan 2013 designed to strengthen the AFP and U.S. militaries' longstanding relationship that has contributed to the region's security and stability, and is deeply rooted in cooperation. Philippine Marine Sgt Bimbo Busico gives U.S. Marines from 3D Law Enforcement Battalion a class on jungle survival techniques at the Naval Education Training Command in support of exercise Balikatan 2013. Balikatan 2013 (BK13) is an annual Philippine-U.S. bilateral exercise. Humanitarian assistance and training activities enable the Philippine and American service members to build lasting relationships, train together and provide assistance in communities where the need is the greatest.
