After a long day today, attending to rush job requests, I took a breather and came across a read that was just what I was looking for. Sometimes, we're jolted by existential questions out of the blue, like "Why am doing what I'm doing?" "Is this really my place in the world?" Why do bad things happen to good people? It all boils down to the question of "What is happiness?"

So what is happiness to you?

At the ABC news website, Michael J. Fox, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease nearly 20 years ago, says:

"Your happiness grows in direct proportion to your acceptance and in inverse proportion to your expectations," Fox told ABC News' Diane Sawyer. "Acceptance doesn't really mean you're resigned to it. It just means acknowledging that that's what it is."

.......and i think perfect happiness depends the flow of your bank account. Any idea?

Other says: "If you are satisfied you are happy" But....you never feel satisfied in your whole life, so,
I can say...happiness is only a light bulb moment in life. So, enjoy life to the fullest
without if and buts coz in an wink of an eye everything ends and you will regret
anything you never did in which probably makes you satisfies and shortly happy!

At the moment....am satisfied and happy. But in a few hours and/or tomorrow....who knows?

Joy is a state of the soul or a spiritual well-being that anchors a person through the different circumstances of life.

Some people are seemingly or outwardly happy, but are really suffering inside. But people who are joyful experience peace from the inside and project goodwill outside, no matter the circumstances in life.

There is also a saying that Hope is the key to happiness.

Bisan wala kay bahandi unya samtang nag lakaw ka sa dalan padulong sa imong trabaho, nag imagine ka nga someday maka tukod ka ug usa ka palasyo, di ba dili nimo kapugngan nga maka smile ka ug maka taghoy. Even if you have nothing but only hope, you will still be happy.

Also I believe that love makes a person happy. Ang usa ka tao nga na lovesick, dili mo kaon, dili niya panumbalingon ang gutom, pero malipayon siya nga mag handom sa iyang gimahal samtang nag hal-hal.

We have to take both the good times and the bad, the happy times and the sad ones. As the Bible says, it is not for us to know when God will give us the happy and the sad times. Happiness or Joy is the same. I have done so many things to gain happiness and joy, materially and spiritually respectively but none is PERMANENT! (Im just honest)

So i stopped my quest and live by the day whatever comes (come what may) happy or sad.

True, you can never appreciate the joy and happiness when you never were sad. Maybe it is so boring noh?

It makes me happy when I help others and in doing so it also made them happy.. I guess when you learn to be contented with what you have and appreciate every little thing that this beautiful world offers.. Despite of all cruelty, you still believe that there is sooo much in life worth celebrating for.. Learn to look at all things and experiences in a beautiful way, then you'll realized happiness is not something you have to search all your life for.

I've learned to laugh when there's something to celebrate, and to cry silently when there's something to mourn. God has broken down the seasons of the year into four equal parts. I am sure the same Wisdom has prepared for us equal portions of happiness and sorrow. Salamat lang gani ko nga wa pa ko kaagi ug kalipay nga gaawas-awas, kay basig bawion sa luhang makalumos inig kasunod.

Through it all, I try to find anchor in an inner peace that is not affected by the change of circumstances and people around me.

How true! In my job as interpreter/translator, I usually interact with clients on the basis of number of hours rendered or number of pages of job order. I have to thank God for this work (even if it's stressful) that takes me to courts, public offices,employers--anywhere where people need my language skills in Japanese, English, Bisaya, Tagalog, etc.

My most fulfulling moment in this job was when I rendered my service for free. A Filipino-Japanese father, just a few years younger than me, visited me at a busy time and was crying inconsolably. We have met casually about two or three times before, but I couldn't remember his name anymore. I learned that his 16-year old daughter was afflicted with a life-threatening illness that he couldn't understand, as the Japanese doctors couldn't speak English and were themselves not sure at that point what the exact ailment was. He said that he had been in limbo as to the nature of the daughter's sickness for more than two months, and was almost losing hope. To make matters worse, he and his wife were just barely scraping by on their part-time jobs.

When I saw his 16-year old daughter, barely able to straighten her back because it was her vertebra that was affected, my heart was broken. I saw in her my own 16-year old daughter... and the promise of an abundant life that the young should be holding in their hearts at this age. And I thought, how could anybody so young, who could very well be my own daughter, be so close to the brink of death?

To make the story short, I dropped everything I was doing for that day. I accompanied them to two major hospitals in two different cities. We were given a run-around before we were finally accommodated in a university hospital in another city with state-of-the-art equipment. The head doctor, apparently one of the leading experts in orthopedics in Japan who is also fluent in English, quickly buckled down to the series of tests, came up with a definitive diagnosis, operated on the girl, and now she is recovering remarkably. We are now working on seeking welfare assistance for the medical costs. The important thing is that the girl has crossed the most critical stage and is now recuperating.

Doing good to others is not only helping them, but helping yourself as well. You're right, it makes you feel happy and makes them feel happy as well. A good act makes us all affirm hope in this world.

It makes me happy when I help others and in doing so it also made them happy.. I guess when you learn to be contented with what you have and appreciate every little thing that this beautiful world offers.. Despite of all cruelty, you still believe that there is sooo much in life worth celebrating for.. Learn to look at all things and experiences in a beautiful way, then you'll realized happiness is not something you have to search all your life for.

The Greek word translated "blessed" means "blissfully happy". The Lord Jesus promises that real, lasting happiness, along with Godâ€™s provision of all our essential needs, will be ours, if we "seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness", Matthew 6-33. That search is through reading Godâ€™s word and earnest prayer to Him.

Ako, personally, happiness for me is reading the bible every morning.
Before i go to class. When i wake up--i open my bible and read a verse. Everyday jud ni.
It is my own happiness and inspiration.

Nothing can compare to the feeling of the Holy Spirit's presence around you.
When you open yourself to contemplation of Scripture.

That, to me, is true happiness.

I maintain a confidence that even my colleagues recognize.
Either it be in the surgical lab, or just in lecture presentation.
My professors always compliment me on my confidence in material.

But for me, the root of my confidence is in Jesus Christ.

We are confident because the Word of God is in us.
We should be proud to be followers of Christ.
As Christians.
And not ashamed of it.

Why hide it?
Instead, we should shine it.
As Jesus told us, we are the light of the world.

Being happy is relative. But no one can truly be happy unless one is content of what one has because unhappiness stems from being unsatisfied with what one has. One can own the world but that does not ensure happiness while one might be content with being able to eat one full meal a day, have a place to protect him from the stinging sun or the cold rain yet he or she is truly happy... if you really want to be happy, be content of what you have now and be very grateful for it as others are more worse off...

Andre, my little 'shan shan'. Even if you get big na,
you will always be that little baby to me. The one that Kuya used to cuddle and pakpak sa lubut so you could sleep. Waking up at night bcuz mom and dad were working---and you were crying cuz wa na yamo milk sa imung bottle. And mo tapad pood ka ni Kuya sa ahong bed. Then mo hilak napood and wake your Kuya and Ate bcuz ur diaper was filled with 'ta-ee' hehehe!
Si kuya pood mo limpyo. hehe. Gamay titoy!

Even if you get big and kuya can no longer carry you with one hand, hehe.

Ingoon pood ahong lolo, with all his whit and retained mental power, "Ah di pood doy. Kuan ra. 79 years Young."

Kini mao ni ang best i describe nako.Sama sa usa ka sakyanan. IF MY BODY WERE A CAR.... If my body were a car, this is the time I would be thinking about trading it in for a newer model. I've got bumps and dents and scratches in my finish, and my paint job is getting a little dull. But that's not the worst of it. My headlights are out of focus, and it's especially hard to see things up close. My traction is not as graceful as it once was. I slip and slide and skid and bump into things even in the best of weather. My whitewalls are stained with varicose veins. It takes me hours to reach my maximum speed. My fuel rate burns inefficiently. But here's the worst of it -- Almost every time I sneeze, cough or laugh, either my radiator leaks or my exhaust backfires.
