Empathy Vs Harshness or Indifference

I was reading an article in the Journal of Moral Education this week that indicated that children are far more capable of complex ethical reasoning than we typically give them credit for, and that we can promote their moral development by encouraging them to empathize with others. In fact, the questions above that we might ask ourselves can be helpful in our efforts to teach our children to become people of character. We can tell them stories about people in need in order to help them to think about how to help others.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
