TIEZA approves P40.3 million
for Choco Hills improvement
Bohol Rep. Edgar Chatto today announced the approval of P40.3 million to improve the Choclate Hills Complex in Carmen.
Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) General Manager Cholo Paragas confirmed to Chatto the fund approval by the TIEZA Board.
Chatto had consistently lobbied for the fund since the request was made when he was yet governor.
"Yes, Cong. (Chatto), we actually just board-approved one of your requests during the most recent board meeting in June for the rehabilitation and improvement of the Chocolate Hills Complex costing P40.3 million," the TIEZA general manager confirmed to the Bohol Firs District solon.
TIEZA was originally proposed as TEZA only, and it was Chatto who insisted that an "I" must be inserted for "infrastructure."
Infrastructure support is essential to sustainable tourism.
TIEZA was among the creations of the National Tourism Act of 2009, which principale author in the House of Representatives was Chatto.
Chatto first served congressman from 2001 to 2010 before he became governor.
He has since returned to Congress after winning the First District congressional election last May. (Ven rebo Arigo)
