Proudly represented Davao Region wearing the traditional Bagobo Tagabawa attire during the launch of Philippine Experience: Cultural, Heritage, and Arts Caravans at the Philippine Tourism Industry Convergence Reception of the Department of Tourism @SMX MOA.
‘The Bagobo Tagabawa are the colorful and vibrant first inhabitants of the southern and eastern slopes of Mt. Apo. They believe in and uphold their responsibility to protect the might and beauty of the mountain for future generations. Endowed with the capacities to protect one of the highest land-based biological diversities in the world, the Bagobo Tagabawa became the sustainers of this sacred mountain, a sanctuary to hundreds of species of endemic flora and fauna.’ (Most popular is the Philippine Eagle)
’The ancestral domain of the Bagobo Tagabawa stretches from Lipades River in Davao City to Saguing River in Makilala North Cotabato. It also covers Toril, Sta. Cruz, Digos City, Bansalan heading up to Kidapawan including the upland and coastal areas in Talomo, Daliao, Darong, Astorga, Sta. Cruz and Digos.’
‘The women wear umpak, an upper garment that is close fitting around the neck and adorned with beads and sequins. They also use Son’nod or skirt made of Inabul’ (Inabal)
