Dauin, Negros Oriental featured on the award-winning BBC show 'Planet Earth'
On the second episode of the third edition of BBC's Planet Earth, a clown frogfish in Dauin, Negros Oriental made an appearance.
As reported on ANCX, Camera operator Sam Lewis and location director Yoland Bosiger described the filming experience in Dauin as "fantastic" and "incredible".
"Filming in Dauin, Philippines was fantastic. There were loads of macro critters to be seen in the areas we were filming and I would highly recommend visiting there if you are into your underwater macro photography. It was pretty tough not to get distracted as there were so many other things happening nearby," Lewis explained.
"Dauin is one of the most incredible places to film little, macro critters in the sand and muck. You have everything from little cuttlefish and octopus to sea snakes and lionfish. It is alive with the most alien crazy creatures -- it was a real privilege to be able to film there and the technical dive facilities in the area were fantastic," Bosiger added.
Producer Wil Ridgeon advised travelers to do some research before visiting the featured destination. "It is very important to make sure you only dive with safe and responsible dive companies -- so it’s good to do some research before you go," Ridgen said.

Dauin is a town and suburb about 12 kilometers south of Dumaguete City that offers simply breathtaking marine sanctuaries that are well-protected and where dive sites are mostly accessible from the shore. The town has been a host of the region's (Central Visayas) prominent diving event for three consecutive years, the DIVE7 Festival.
DIVE7 stands as a flagship initiative of the Department of Tourism Central Visayas, seeking to spotlight the region as a premier diving destination, both nationally and internationally, all while emphasizing the importance of sustainability in resource management and the diving industry.
The forthcoming DIVE7 Festival in Negros Oriental, now in its fourth year, is scheduled to take place on July 2024, spanning across the municipalities of Dauin and Zamboanguita.
