From hearty paellas and mouthwatering tapas to a range of unique regional dishes, Barcino brings its authentic take on Spanish gastronomy to Cebu City.
Barcino was founded in 2016 by a group of Spanish friends in Manila who believed the best way to showcase their native cuisine was to open a restaurant. Its name is Latin for Barcelona, the capital of the Catalan community in Spain, and home to the restaurant's founders.
The newly opened Barcino in NUSTAR Resort is the 19th branch and the first outside of Metro Manila.
Bernadette M. Lee, Chief Operating Officer, said Barcino offers a mix of traditional Spanish cuisine and dishes enhanced by the rich and diverse Cebuano food culture.
To ensure a remarkable culinary experience for guests, the Barcino chefs use only ingredients imported from Spain and prepare dishes with traditional Spanish techniques.
One of Barcino's centerpiece offerings is the cochinillo or lechon de leche. If you order it in Barcino, the chef cuts it with a plate to show how tender the meat is and breaks the plate in keeping with an old Spanish tradition for luck.
The restaurant is also known for its sangria and extensive wine list. It currently has eight kinds of sangria to choose from and over a hundred mostly Spanish wine labels.
Barcino's core that is the Spanish experience complements Cebu's historical connection with Spain that dates back to Ferdinand Magelan's arrival in Cebu in 1521.
The restaurant is now open to serve generous portions of Spanish cuisine at friendly prices from 11:00 am to 12:00 midnight from Sunday to Thursday and up to 2 am from Friday to Saturday.
