When anyone achieves a modicum of success in life, we tend to think we have worked hard to achieve ‘great things, important things, valuable things’ and paid such a price in doing so that we are entitled to some special rewards. At such a time I have seen men and women sort of “forget Godâ€, and indulge themselves with some out of bounds “reward†that they would never have done while they were working so hard to get the job done. Maybe that is why the story was told in the movie Patton that “when the Roman conquerors returned to Rome and were celebrated with a parade with their Legions through the adoring crowds to the Senate building, a man was appointed to ride on the victorious leader’s chariot holding over his head the victor’s wreath and whispering in his ear: ‘remember thou art but mortal, and all glory is fleeting’â€.Lest we forget, we must keep our eyes focused on Jesus, His two great commandments, and His calling on our lives! “For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory foreverâ€
