Gregorio Aglipay, the founder of the Aglipayan Church, was a commendable and honorable man. I respect his nationalistic spirit, but what I find rather interesting about him was his humanistic trait of questioning and doubting. He was ordained a priest, but was excommunicated due to charges of inciting military movement within church clergy and placing hostility on the established church. Aglipay, would later denounce and reject the Trinity and accepted theological Unitarianism. Tho throughout his life and his antagonism with the Roman Catholic Church, this man who led the movement to the birth of the Aglipayan Church, in the end, Gregorio Aglipay recanted his heresy against the Catholic Church in his death bed. With this, was received back into the Catholic Church and was given a Catholic Burial.
