A truly amazing story unfolds of a girl who was raised in a shanty made of patches of scrap metal and wood who graduates Magna cum Laude, the second to the highest form of academic recognition in college, in Tiaong, Quezon. Sarah Tanduyan was motherless since age ten and her father's meager 200-peso per day income did not deter her to excel despite occassions where they couldn't pay for electric bills so she had to study with a tiny gas lamp.
Sarah credits her success to her father that served as her inspiration to study hard so she can someday raise him up from poverty. Her father who collects scraps of metal, bottles and other junks and for a living is very proud of his daughter's success.
