The Chinese Regime is overconfident and ridiculous. How can they dare to claim over 1 million square miles of territory.

Why is China claiming the control of the South China Sea?

A: Over 1/3 of the world's naval marine and shipping supplies pass through the South China Sea. Not to mention that the South China Sea contains billions of reserves of oil and natural gas.

China's Stance: China will never wave its core national interests of China. Apparently, the Chinese have claimed the South China Sea as national territorial right and will protect it by military force if necessary.

The Chinese are audacious. They are now claiming a 200 mile exclusive economic zone to even the smallest island. China sees itself becoming more powerful and America's eventual decline.

The issue here is the impression of American Weakness. The United States, particularly the Obama Administration, is implementing actions that shows the United States is active in the region , is not weaker, and not distracted. The United States is now flexing its muscles by arming long time strategic partners, The Philippines, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan.

China claims that the United States is trying to block China's Rise. Beijing cliams that the United States is trying to shape and constrain China's rise and block its ascendancy. Beijing is contesting the United States enforcement of the Chinese accepting of American Supremacy in the world and in the region.

The problem here is that Beijing will not comply to this. This is a complex relationship. A very tense one.

China's 200 economic exclusive zone stretches to Palawaan and the Kalayaan Islands. So now, the Chinese are claiming a Philippine Province?

The red line is the extent of the Chinese territorial claim. However, under the auspices of the UN Law of the Sea, a nation's territorial claim can extend 200 miles outside of its territory if there is an economic zone in the peripheral territories. China , which is developing a military bastion, specifically a naval one, at the outer periphery of the islands it claims. If it follows the UN Law of the Sea's rationale, then it has a 200 mile exclusive economic zone that stretches beyond the borders of the Republic of the Philippine's Province of Palawan. It would give China a basis to claim the entire Philippines....

This is one of the reasons why it is imperative for the Philippines to develop its navy. Upholding the claim of the Republic is a must. If not, then the ever-hungry China will claim more and more of our islands.

If there will be another World War, it will be in around this region.
