Koreans Remember Bataan Death March

More than 50 Korean nationals and a few Filipinos on Maundy Thursday passed by this town on their way to Mariveles town after starting what they called as “Life March” in Capas, Tarlac.

Marchers said they began their trek of the 111-kilometer route of the dreaded Death March forced on thousands of Filipino and American soldiers after Bataan fell to the Japanese invaders on April 9, 1942.

Instead of beginning from Mariveles town where the Death March started, the Koreans did the opposite. They began the daily march from Tarlac on March 31 that will end in Mariveles in nine days.

“We carry different flags representing unity,” said a young Korean boy.

Life for all, No to Death March!” the marchers shouted in chorus.

In this town, they passed by the century-old acacia tree that was a mute witness to the sufferings of Filipino soldiers during World War II.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
