May 28, 1503: "The marriage of King James IV of Scotland and Margaret Tudor, Princess of England, is confirmed by a papal bull issued by Pope Alexander VI. This union between the Thistle and the Rose concluded the first peace treaty between England and Scotland for more than 170 years, namely the Treaty of Perpetual Peace in 1502. The marriage had already been performed by proxy earlier that year but with formal confirmation from the Papacy the Tudors and Stewarts were legally joined, a state of affairs which would eventually bring the Scots to the throne of England exactly a century later." - The Henry Tudor Society
Although Queen Margaret's brother Henry VIII famously married six times, by the time his last child Queen Elizabeth I died in 1603 he had no more living descendants. It is through Margaret Tudor that the Tudor bloodline exists in the British Royal Family today; Queen Elizabeth II is her 13xgreat-granddaughter.
"The line goes; Margaret Tudor = James V of Scotland = Mary, Queen of Scots = James VI of Scotland/I of England = Elizabeth of Bohemia = Sophia, Electress of Hanover = George I = George II = Frederick, Prince of Wales = George III = Prince Edward, Duke of Kent = Queen Victoria = Edward VII = George V = George VI = Queen Elizabeth II." - The Anne Boleyn Society
