What is aphasia?

It is a higher-order inability to speak. And there are 4 types of aphasia.

1. Broca's Aphasia: Nonfluent aphasia with intact comprehension.

Note: Broca's area is located in the inferior frontal gyrus

2. Wernicke's Aphasia: Fluent aphasia with impaired comprehension.

Note: Wernicke's area is located in the superior temporal gyrus

Noted: Both Broca's and Wernicke's area are affected

4. Conduction Aphasia: Poor repetition but fluent speech, intact comprehension

Note: The Arcuate fasciculus, which connects Broca's area and Wernicke's area, is affected.
