Don't you want to prevent wrinkles and age spots,
get rid of rough, dry skin and skin cancer ? Would'nt
you like to have a smoother, more radiant younger
appearance ? Don't you want to look as great as you
can? Your health affects your appearance.
Taking care of your skin starts with proper nutrition, exercise
( which promotes blood flow), sleep ( natural
anti-inflammatory). All of those factors naturally help
us to look healthier and more radiant, which automa-
tically translates into looking younger.
You've got to take care of your skin from the inside
out if you want to look and feel great.
All the expensive skin-care products in the world
won't achieve or maintain healthy skin without from
your diet.
Here are the foods:Dark chocolate, avocados, tea,
oranges, dried fruits, tomatoes and pumpkins.
I've discussed in my previous posting about teas
and dark chocolates. Avocados are high in fiber,
and top the charts among all fruits for folate ( folic
acid, one of the B-vitamins), potassium, vitamin E,
and magnesium. Magnesium is essential nutrient
for healthy bones as well as the cardiovascular
system, it also helps in the prevention of type 2
diabetes and seems to delay the aging of our cells.
Avocados provide more magnesium than the 20
most commonly eaten fruits. If avocado is not
available make use of asparagus, artichoke, extra-
virgin oil.
Oranges are extremely rich in vitamin C. Human
beings cannot manufacture vitamin C in our bodies
and we therefore need constant replenishment of
this vitamin from dietary sources. Vitamin C is
essential for making collagen, a natural protein
found in the connective tissues that support the
skin and help keep the skin elastic. Researchers
reported that people who ate plenty of vitamin C-
rich foods had fewer wrinkles. Tomatoes are rich
in lycopene. Tomato paste has a very high concen-
tration of lycopene. It helps protect the skin from
UV damage and UV induced reddening. Cooked
tomatoes has more lycopene content. If you're
going for fresh tomatoes go for cherry tomatoes-
they have the highest antioxidant amounts of their
thick skin. Other sources that has lycopene include
warermelon, pink grapefruit, Japanese persimmons,
( star-apple of kaimito), red fleshed papaya and
strawberry guavas. Pumpkin (either fresh or canned)
carrots ( raw, cooked, or juiced) and butternut squash
are all excellent sources of both alpha-carotene and
beta carotene, both of which provide protection against
UV light and help to reduce photosensitivity, which pro-
motes skin renewal and protects the skin from sun da-
mage.Dried fruits has higher fiber contents and has
greater polyphenol content than fresh fruits (except for
vitamin C,there's little of it in fresh fruits.) The most
nutrient-dense dried fruits are apricots and figs followed
by plums, raisins, dates and cranberries. You can add
dried fruit to your oatmeals, cereals, bread and cookies.
There's nothing more attractive than the glow of good
health. Everyone wants to look good no matter what
their age. When you look at yourself in the mirror and
you look good, you feel better and have confidence.
The more confident you are, the more you look forward
to a happy, healthy future, and the more likely you are
to take care of yourself and the way you look.
