PhilHealth medical detox package offered to W. Visayas drug dependents

ILOILO CITY, Feb. 27 (PNA) -- Drug dependents in Western Visayas who want to undergo medical detoxification may avail of the package provided by the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth).

This is part of PhilHealth’s enhanced services in line with the celebration of its 22nd anniversary from February to March, Health Care Delivery Management division chief of PhilHealth-Western Visayas, Dr. Bernadette Reynes said.

The medical detox package, worth PHP10,000, is open to PhilHealth members and their dependents who test positive for amphetamine in their qualitative or quantitative urine test, Reynes said, adding that they must also show a certificate from a doctor that they suffer from acute toxicity symptoms.

“They can avail of this from Levels 1 to 3 government hospitals and certified drug-rehab or treatment centers,” she said.

All mandatory procedures upon admission shall be covered by the package. In case of co-morbidity, they may avail of the additional PhilHealth coverage, depending on their case.

Those who are enrolled under the no balance billing (NBB) are not required to shell out additional cash in case the package is not enough to cover the costs of the process.

Meanwhile, those who are not enrolled with PhilHealth could still avail of the package under the point of care service that is available in hospitals. The point of care is extended to indigents who are not yet enrolled as PhilHealth members.

PhilHealth-Western Visayas regional vice president, Lourdes Diocson, revealed that the national government has provided PhilHealth a PHP3 billion fund for 2017.

“The medical detoxification, however, can be availed of only once,” said Janimhe Jalbuna, officer-in-charge of PhilHealth’s Public Affairs Unit. (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
