When our cells need repair, including brain cells

I remember my cousin Noli calling me and telling me about a doctor she saw on TV talking about stem cell therapy.  “It might be good for your mother,” she said, “but it’s very expensive.”  When she told me how much, I told her I could not afford it.  Since then both my mother and Noli have passed away.  But that phone call stands out in my memory because it was the first time I heard about stem cell therapy, something I use now, and for much less money than that doctor cited then.

I am not an active seller of StemEnhance. I buy about six bottles every quarter for my own use and the use of a few people who call now and then. I have been taking it for three years now. It makes me feel good. The other day, I saw one of my writing students.  She was my oldest student. She looked puzzled.  Then she said, “You look so young.  You look younger than you did when you were teaching me.  You should change the picture in your column.  There you look old.”  The last time I saw her was eight years ago.

I had lunch with a friend who I had not seen at close range in approximately a year.   I was wearing jeggings and a simple blouse.  She said I was slim.  I told her I don’t diet.  She said it was probably because of StemEnhance.  I agreed.

Anyway, last week I went to my first StemEnhance meeting.  Christian Drapeau, the researcher whose efforts gave birth to the capsule, was in town and he was going to give a speech.  He does this quite regularly, but I’ve never had the time to go.   Christian Drapeau is a good-looking, well-spoken vegetarian.  Jenny, one of the office girls, referred to him as a George Clooney look-alike and I saw she was quite right.  But he is young and married to a beautiful young actress so, ladies, hands off.  He talked wonderfully well about the product and how it works.

to continue...

StemEnhance is a capsule made from blue-green algae found in an Oregon lake. Drapeau did massive research on it and found that it had the property of supporting the manufacture and mobility of human stem cells.  Our stem cells are produced by the bone marrow in our own bodies.  Stem cells are our own healing system. They are produced, released into the blood stream and travel around our bodies looking for defective cells that need to be replaced.  Then they turn into those cells.  If there is something wrong with your liver, you will generate new liver cells and your liver will start working again.

I know the effect it had on me. As a stroke victim I did not want to take my neurologist’s prescriptions because I do not like chemical drugs.  Then I ran into a friend who looked very well.  I asked him if he was taking anything.  He said StemEnhance.  So I asked for a bottle. In less than 10 days, I noticed more energy.  I used to wake up and drag myself around.  Suddenly, I was waking up, bathing, and dressing very quickly and looking for things to do.  In four months my brain had returned.  I was thinking again, speaking again, being contrary again.  In four months, I was perfectly well.   To think that I had the stroke six years before then.

That’s how I got converted to StemEnhance.  You don’t find it in drugstores.  You buy it from people who sell it.  It is not a miracle drug.  It repairs your body invisibly because it repairs inside, replacing cells that need replacement.  You don’t see those and you don’t feel anything.  But over time, you observe the effects.

I wear glasses all the time and my glasses have progressive lenses.   I used to go for a checkup once a year.  The grade would go higher each time.  These days, I make jewelry, always using my eyes.  The grade has not changed in three years.  To me that alone is remarkable!

But it can be expensive.  The retail price is P3,600 for every bottle of 90 capsules.  Ordinary people take three capsules a day.  I take them all in the morning.  If you are recovering from a stroke or from cancer, you may have to take as many as 16 capsules a day.  It will work slowly but surely on you as it worked on me.

It is also good for diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s, I am told, a bit too late for my mother.  It is good for any ailment because it repairs all cells that need repair, including brain cells.  Also this is so much cheaper than the stem cell therapy I know the celebrities are taking.

But I was most impressed by Dr. George Eufemio, a surgical oncologist.  The doctor takes StemEnhance and now also sells it because it has done him tremendous good.  Dr. Eufemio is 80 years old, plays tennis albeit doubles.  He is a doctor who has tried it and found it works remarkably well on him.  He jokes that when he plays tennis and wins, it is because of StemEnhance.  When he loses, it’s because he forgot to take it.

If you want to try it, ask your friends.  I’m sure there’s a person you know who sells it.  If not, you may call me, but only if you truly want to.

There are many different adult stem cells. Bone marrow contains several different populations of adult stem cells:
1. Hematopoietic stem cells: make new blood cells.
2. Mesenchymal stem cells: in the stroma (fibrous tissue) and can make mesenchymal phenotypes.
3. Multipotent adult progenitor cells (MAPCs): in the stroma and can differentiate into tissues from all 3 dermal layers -- such as nerve cells and liver cells.
4. Osteo-chrondral progenitor cells: in the stroma and can differentiate to cartilage or bone.

I've never heard of an oral pill that would enhance stem cell growth or release of stem cells into the circulation. If you want to increase the number of stem cells, you harvest the bone marrow, isolate the stem cells, and expand them in culture. In short, Stemenhance is a scam!

Whenever anyone says "stem cells", the first question out of your mouth should be "Which stem cells?"

I just googled this thing. These pills sell for $60 per bottle. Does it even claim to heal / cure any specific diseases? What are the clinical tests? Any stage 1, stage 2, or stage 3 testing? What are the human clinical trials ? What are the quantitative and qualitative results? Does this drug hold an FDA-approved patent?

The only way to stimulate stem cells is to administer CSF (colony stimulating growth factors) via IV or through osteoimplantation.

:P

while fda-approved drugs are reassuring, the fda isn't infallible either.  i understand that there were instances when fda-approved drugs were withdrawn from the market because of some unexpected side effects.

Christian Drapeau (Born March 8, 1965 in Montreal, Canada) is an American author and self-styled "stem cell expert", the author of a book called The Stem Cell Theory of Renewal (Sutton Hart Press 2009). Drapeau is also the author of several other books ranging from Accelerated Learning to Amazon Herbs to Cracking the Stem Cell Code (Sutton Hart Press 2010). (wikipedia)

some other opinions:

The product that this data is meant to support is StemEnhance, a miracle stem cell mobilizer that improves healing and maintains proper tissue and organ functioning in your body. A single, 30-serving (60 tablet) bottle costs $60 with a recommended dose of 2 capsules once or twice a day. But before shelling out up to $120 a month, consider the following:

1)Does StemEnhance actually mobilize stem cells as it claims? The only published data is poor at best, as discussed above.

2)Is there any scientific evidence that 'stem cell mobilization' offers any health benefit? Like most quackery, StemEnhance relies on anecdotal evidence and testamonials to support their claims.

3)Is there any evidence that IF stem cell mobilization offers a health benefit, the increase in circulating CD34+ claimed by StemEnhance is biologically relevant? 30% may seem like a lot, but what does that mean in absolute numbers? Is that 1000 cells? 100? Is that enough to make a difference?

4)What are potential long term or other potential outcomes of increased circulating stem cells? A recent paper discussed at Journal Club talks about bone marrow stem cells localizing to breast cancers and increase metastatic potential.

Don't just listen to me, though. Other StemEnhance criticism can be found at MLM watch and The Scientist.

On top of the dubious product claims, StemEnhance has another hallmark of potential scams: a multi-level marketing scheme. That's right, you too can distribute StemEnhance and become a block in the pyramid upon whose back others will profit. But don't just take StemEnhance to improve your OWN health, you can buy StemPets and StemEquine and have your animal friends reap the benefits as well. Me? I think I'll buy some for my duck. Quack, quack, quack. (Posted by Kamel)

lifeenhancingtec says...

Apparently you are not aware that there is a peer reviewed study published in the Cardiovascular Revascularization Medical Journal, Sept Issue.

Based on your comments you are saying this peer review is worthless?

And are you making a statement that this is a drug or in that category? It is not.

I hold an MS Degree also and I am about to do my dissertation to get my PHD. I had to stop working a JOB and my dissertation papers because my body had run down and I was unable to do much of anything. I was joining the drugged society. Having tried the product upon high recommendations of an MD who did research on this product I had great results and doing much, much better in just a few months. StemEnhance help my body do what it needed to do unlike the poor results caused by medications. So, believe what you want without having tried the product that is your choice. As for myself, I thank Christian Drapeau for giving me the chance to continue having a better quality of life. And as far as the MLM goes, you have just know idea.... because it isn't what you make it to be. Stick to what you know more about live the business world alone. Either we are all stupid and you are just so smart and above us all.

Marilyn says...

All I can say is that at the beginning of this year I decided to take the product as a nutritional supplement. I am now a happily functioning person again and out and about. Last year I was very depressed and it was physically my worst year. Most of the doctors wasted my time and money. Drugs were their only answer and that did not work! My mother suffered a heart attack after taking Vioxx. Two people died in my family recently of misdiagnosis and wrong medication. My friend lost her eye sight after taking 12 days of a prescribed drug. So, should I continue the allopathic way?

I have done my own research and I have read all that I can and continue to do so, looking for something out there than can help. To me, this product did the trick, I can physically function again, and my lab results have shown a drastic change. The quality of my life is so much better! You call him a quack, but I call him a person who has made a difference in my life!
