Hello guys! I just wonder if anybody out there studying about Mesothelioma? Thanks in advance for sharing your advice.

Mesothelioma is:

-rare, highly malignant (quickly spreads) neoplasm

-there is occupational exposure to asbestos in almost 90% cases

-recurrent pleural effusions, dyspnea , chest pain

-gross image : the tumor encases and compresses the lung

-micro image: carcinomatous and sarcomatous elements (biphasic pattern)

-electron micrography: long, thin microvilli

There is poor prognosis of of Mesothelioma.

Denelle,

In regards to mesothelioma, we would follow current medical measures to combat cancer (radiation therapy, chemotherapy etc). However, considering the nature of mesothelioma, the problem is that the patient has severe difficulty breathing. Respiratory failure secondary to metastatic spread is the outcome.
