The fundamental difference :

1. In stroke, there is paralysis of either upper or lower face

2. In bell's palsy, both the lower and upper face are paralyzed

3. Stroke is due to either a floating embolus, due to hemorrhage or due to ischemia

4. Bell's palsy is due to the destruction of the facial nucleus and it's idiopathic onset

5. Stroke results in a permanent deficit

6. Bell's palsy is reversible
